Amihan stood up from her seat taking her tray of half-eaten food and threw them away in the garbage can. She couldn't take one more second there inside the cafeteria where people give her judging looks. Especially those boys who pick on her every day since freshman year. She started walking towards the exit.
"Keep it together, Ami, keep it together." Once she reached the hallway, she ran. She ran away like she always did.
"That's what I'm good at," Amihan thought.
Only then when she reached that place did Amihan stopped running. Her escape, her hiding spot, call it whatever you want but to Amihan, it was her safe haven. It was the old oak tree in the middle of the field near their school. Only a few people go outside so it was perfect.
But she wasn't alone, sitting there at her spot under the beautiful leaves was an equally ethereal boy, crying.
She found it peculiar. Not because of the boy crying.
No one goes to that tree at that time of day, except for her.
