"I know right, I was like 'What the heck?'" one of Pierce's friends shared until another interrupted him
"Uh oh, freak, coming towards us" Pierce looked at what his friend was talking about and he saw Amihan. He was surprised. He was about to speak but Amihan had beat him to it.
"You are such a jerk!" she exclaimed and slapped Pierce. The boys were shocked. They got a few other students watching them.
"What's your problem, freak?" one of Pierce's friends exclaimed at her. Pierce faced his friend. He was clueless.
Why were they calling Amihan 'freak'? Why did she slap him? Did he do something wrong?
"Freak? What is going on?" he asked his friends.
"I trusted you!" Amihan started. Pierce looked at her and she was crying. Her eyes were full of anger and sadness and it broke his heart.
"I've opened up to you about everything and this is what you do to me? You've lied to me about not knowing who was bullying me. You, among all people, should know how many times I've cried. You, among all people, should know how much pain I was going through. You among all people should know that it was because of them! And the worst part is that they are your friends. Your friends, Pierce! Friends! How could you do this to me?" she cried.
Pierce now understands.
His friends were Amihan's bully.
They were the reason why she cried at night.
"Ami, I didn't know, I swear. I'm telling you, I didn't know. Please, you've got to believe me." he pleaded. Amihan slowly shook her head.
"I hate you, Pierce. I hate you" she said with her voice cracking. She turned around and ran.
She ran away, again. The school bell rang and everyone cleared the hallway.
