The inn was quiet. Everyone in Snowdin seemed to be asleep. Except of course, Y/n.
She got out of bed and slipped on a pair of pants and a t-shirt and quietly escaped the inn unnoticed. She hugged her thick jacket to her body as she speed-walked through Snowdin and into Waterfall. The scenery drastically changed from snow and lights to the warm blue glow reflecting off the clear water as she crossed the short path connecting the two areas.
Y/n huffed as she trudged up the huge hill Flowey had asked her to meet him at. She was far away from any civilization by now.
Soon enough she reached the top of the hill and saw Flowey gazing at the cavern ceiling. "I wonder what the real stars look like," Flowey said, his voice calm and thoughtful. "I've only been to the surface once. And I didn't get enough time to see the stars..."
Y/n sat on the grass next to him. He turned to her and smiled. "See those up there? Those are the stars of the Underground." Flowey pointed with one of his leaves to the ceiling. The girl followed and looked up to see the cave ceiling.
It was stunning.
There were crystals of blue, magenta, pink, and yellow, all shining and sparkling in the dark. Y/n let out a wonderstruck gasp at the sight of the crystals before turning back to Flowey. "This is beautiful," she whispered, scared the smallest noise would shatter the crystals of the cavern. "I would take these over the human stars any day."
"They are nice," he said. "But you get used to them after a certain amount of time."
"Do you come here often?" Y/n asked. Flowey nodded.
"Yep! I used to come here all the time with my friend when we were little." She could've sworn Flowey's smile faltered as he spoke. "I do miss her sometimes..."
"What was her name?" Y/n asked.
"Frisk," Flowey replied. "Her name was Frisk. The first human to fall into the Underground. She was really swell, my family loved her; she was like a sibling to me."
"You talk about her as if she's gone... Is she not around anymore?" Flowey took a moment before replying, as if thinking about how to phrase his response.
"She died when I was still normal." Blunt much?!
"O-oh, I'm- I'm so sorry, Flowey. That must have been awful for you to go through..."
"Yeah, it kinda was," Flowey said, his voice a little slower now. "But losing her can't really compare to what it feels like to die. I mean, losing her was just awful, but the feeling of dying still shakes my petals down to the stem!"
Y/n flinched slightly, not sure how to respond. What was he going on about? None of this made any sense. "W-what do you mean by that...?"
"Just what I said! Dying sucks."
"Wait have you died before? How's that even possible- "
"The humans killed me."
"Okokokookokokkokko. Can you start over I'm super confused Flowey," Y/n exclaimed, turning her full attention to him now.
"My friend, Frisk, died when I was a kid. Back when I was normal of course, I wasn't always a flower- "
"Wait you turned into a flower?!"
"Yes."
"How did you- "
"If you would stop interrupting me, human, perhaps I'll still tell you!" Flowey snapped, his voice turning finicky and strange. Y/n shyed away and kept quiet. "As I was saying... I don't remember what I was saying... Oh wait, now I remember! When Frisk died, I absorbed her soul and went to the surface to lay her body to rest on a patch of golden flowers. It was her last request before she died... But things went real downhill. I got god-like power and it was all fun and games until I got to the surface. The humans thought I killed the child I was carrying! Can you imagine me killing my best friend? How silly of them!"
