" Papa's birthday.... Everyone must be eating sweets and cakes outside. I love to eat them too. Then why am I inside this boring room? " Iris thought to herself as she sat inside her bedroom, away from world's eyes.

These past few years has changed her life drastically. May be a little bit too drastically. Her life has lost its flavour of childhood entirely.

To the world, she was just another adorable six years old child. But little did it know that her soul has lost all her previous playfulness.

But tonight for some reason, the little girl was excited for her Papa's birthday. It wasn't like Papa didn't love her. He loved her, she knew it. Cause whenever Papa came to visit her, he would bring lots of toys and beautiful frocks for her.

She loved all those gifts he brought with him for her. But she just wanted to hug her father to sleep. Like her mommy used to do.

She wanted to spend more time with him. But Granny said her Papa is too busy to stay with her always. She knew better than to be a wishful kid.

All she could do now was going to school and coming back home....

Arranging a party was not an easy task. Nate was a bit relieved since he has almost managed everything. Now, the only thing he could do was wait for Dylan to get dressed up.

Nate was sitting like a obedient puppy on the small couch outside Dylan's changing room, when he heard faint footsteps.

His consciousness darted towards the direction of the sound.

Gasp!!

Nate gasped as his heart skipped a bit when his eyes caught the sight of a very familiar pair of beautiful blue eyes.

It was a little girl child wandering in the corridors. She dead stopped in her tracks as soon as she sensed his presence.

Nate felt something really strange.

Has it ever happened to you that you are listening to a song, and suddenly you feel really nostalgic but you can't quite place why you are feeling so? Your heart feels empty.. almost as if missing something really really important to you but you still can't remember what priceless thing you have lost...

Nate was feeling something similar. He almost felt as if he should know who she was. But he couldnt remember anything related to her.

It felt funny at the same time, since he met the child for the first time but she managed to pull onto some unknown strings attached to his heart.

"Miss, you should go back to your room." The house help spoke politely, bringing Nate back to reality from his trance.

Nate saw her adorable cheeks visibly puff up, her shoulders drooped.. as if in complete defeat.

He was staring at her back as she walked away, when the house help spoke to Nate, "Here's the clothes Master Dylan ordered us to prepare for you."

"Dylan ordered clothes for me?" Nate was a bit confused. But considering his employer was Richie rich completely loaded with cash, he decided to accept the gift.

A white attire it was. White shirt, white pants and white coat. Only the collar was black. The sleeves had "honey" written in calligraphic font. It was classy as well as trendy at the same time.

It took only 10 mins for him to get ready. But, as soon as he came out he spotted Dylan standing there in full glory.

They were living together under the same roof for quite sometime now. Nate had previously thought he was immune to Dylan's deadly charms. But, oh boy , how wrong he was.

Dylan was standing infront of him.. wearing black..

If dylan in black wasn't Nate's most favourite thing in this world, then there's no "favourite" in his dictionary.

The love of his life was standing infront of him, in his favourite colour, sporting the most dazzling smile ever. But this dazzling smile which had the power to light up his entire world, was crushing his soul down to earth tonight.

"I can never be loved by him. I don't deserve to be loved." The otherwise optimistic Nate was feeling really down.

Fate can be a really funny thing. Fate can bring people together, but at the same time it is robust enough to cause estrangement to two lovelorn souls.

Funny. Funny. Really Funny.

The Alcohol which didn't generally effect Nate's memories, was the very thing which completely erased the most precious memory of him and his beloved from his brain.

If it wasn't the fate's evil play, then what was it??

But was it only playing evil towards Nate? Was Dylan enjoying good Fate?

The Dylan who secretly ordered couple suits for himself and his "lover" and was smiling so brightly cause his man was looking so gorgeous, did he have any idea that Nate was going to leave his job and him that very night?

***

Years Later, Nate still wondered how his life would have changed if he hadn't left that day. Nate still wondered what would have happened to him only if he didn't return that baseball jersey to Dylan that day. Nate still wondered what would have happened if he didn't take up his job as Dylan's assistant on that fateful day.
