The last bell for school rang and I was heading out of my classroom. What Tenna said earlier about Cory was still fresh in my mind. She didn't seem like the player type or anything similar. Is she just trying to sleep with me? I mean I was also kind of flirting with her. I don't know. Thinking about her based on rumors isn't good. I should just put it to the side and decide for myself.
"Hey." A girl said to me as I reached my locker. I look to my left and saw Tenna.
"Oh. Hey. Do you need something?" I said, turning back to putting my stuff away.
"Nope." She smacked her gum. "Just wanted to say hi. Plus your locker is near mine so." She opened hers up and did whatever she needed to do.
"Ok well," I closed my longer and slung my backpack over my shoulder. "See you around I guess." I walked off and exited the school.
A few minutes pass and I noticed another pair of feet walking behind me. It was the sound of heels behind me and I knew only one person who wore them today. I stopped walking and they stopped walking.
"Are you following me?" I asked. No response. I turned around to face them and they were closer than I thought. She was practically a few inches from me. "And why are you so close to me?"
"Why are you so close to me? You're the one who stopped walking." Tenna said angrily.
"Because I wanna know why you're following me." I said turning back around and starting to walk again. This time, Tenna walked next to me.
"Well, my house is at the end of the street. Why are you following me?" I sighed. This girl.
"I'm following you? Excuse me but my house is this way too. And you're rich aren't you? Don't you have a car?" I put my hands in my blazer pockets, not really paying attention to Tenna.
"I usually have a driver, who took me to school today but his wife is having a baby right now so I have to walk home. What about you? Do you have a car?" I scoffed and laughed a bit.
"No. I don't. My family isn't rich. We only have two cars and both are for my parents so they can go to work." I said sternly. Dammit why am I being mean to her! She's done nothing wrong except be a little bitchy when I met her but right now she's being normal. Fuck.
"Oh. Well you have a driver's license yeah?" I shook my head.
"My parents got their liceneses pretty much the day after we got here. I just have the permit for now. But I do know how to drive."
"Wait, you're not from here?" She turned to me.
"Nope. I'm from South Korea. Parents moved here because of work so I had to go with."
"Woow. Um, that must have been hard huh?" Deja vu with Cory I guess.
I nodded. "Let me guess, you've lived here your whole life so you don't really know what it's like to move across the world?" I recited pretty much what Cory said with a little but of sassyness to it. She nodded slowly and looked down. Why am I being so mean to her!!? I didn't mean for it to come out that way.
I noticed that we were nearing my house so I looked at Tenna. She was still looking down at her feet while walking. She looked, pretty sad I think. Dammit maybe I shouldn't leave her.
"Tenna." My voice startled her and she looked back up to me. We made eye contact and I could see sadness in her eyes. It's probably from me being mean. "How far is your house from here." I stated.
"Not far from here. Maybe 5 more minutes?" She started to seem a little hopeful. This girl is weird.
"Ok. I'll walk you to your house." She looked surprised.
"N-no no you don't have to do that. I-I can walk home...by myself." She started to trail off.
"Nope. I'll walk you, but let me put my stuff my way. As I said that we arrived at my house. I walked up to the door and looked back to see the Tenna was awkwardly standung on the sidewalk. "You can come in if you'd like." I said. She looked at me and hesitated but she eventually came up to the door.
I opened it and quickly took my shoes off. "Shoes." Tenna swiftly took her shoes off and we headed to my room. "Don't worry no one's home. My parents are still at work." She nodded.
"Y-You have a nice home." She followed behind me as we entered my room. I plopped my backpack at my desk chair.
"Thanks. Let's go." And with that we put our shoes back on and headed towards Tenna's house. "So what do your parents do for work?" I asked the blonde girl.
"They do real estate. They're like a real estate duo or something. In fact, they probably sold your parents the house." She giggled and I smiled a little. 'We own some apartment complexes as well so, you know, we're pretty wealthy." She sounded a bit dejected at the end there but I wasn't gonna pry. I nodded silently and we walked side by side in the direction of her house.
"So why do you wear the braid like that?" I asked. She looked down at her feet and her ears became red.
"B-Because my mom styled once and I really liked it." She stammered. I took a closer look at her hair. The braid was perfect.
"Have you changed it since? Like on occasion or something?"
"Not really. I've always had it- oh my house is here." We reached her house and we were at the front gate. "Um, t-thank you for walking me to my house. I really appreciate it."
"No problem Tenna Bailey. I'll see you at school tomorrow. And maybe wear the hair down once in a while, it'd probably be cute." I said as I turned around and walked back to my house. I didn't let her say anything after that and it was probably better that way.
I decided to fish my phone out of ny pocket and I called Cory's number.
"Hello!"
"Hey Cory. You wanna pick me up and get something to eat? I'll be back at my house in a few minutes. I'll change and be ready to go. My treat by the way."
"Free food? Fuck yeah! Text me your address and I'll be over."
"Sounds good Cory. See you in a bit." I texted her my address and I felt my heart beat quicken.
