Chapter one - The phone call

Your POV

I was in my room sat on my bed. I could hear the faint sound of my mother on the phone. But then I heard her crying? It was hard to tell. I went downstairs to the kitchen where she was on the phone.

"Mom are you ok?" I say from the bottom of the stairs. "Yes dear I'm fine, here, Uncle Clifford needs to talk to you" she said as she handed me the phone.

I hesitated but took the phone from her hand and looked at her. She had tears running down her face. I wondered what he could have possibly told her.

"Hello?" I say "hello (y/n) I have some bad news" he says. I sigh and glance around for a moment then speak into the phone.

"what is it?" I dreaded having to hear what he had to say because with him it could be anything. I was never really had a close relationship ship with uncle Clifford, didn't really like him either.

"Your cousin Jason......" he hesitated "Jason drowned in sweet water river" he says finally. His voice was very monotone and quiet.

"What- he drowned?" I say confused. I honestly didn't want to believe him. I mean he had to be joking right? Captain of the swim/water polo team drowning?

"I'm sorry y/n. Cheryl and him were out for a boat ride and the boat tipped Cheryl made it to the shore but Jason did not"

I stared at the floor. I felt a little overwhelmed and numb. How the hell did this happen? "Wow" I mumble.

Cheryl she must be devastated she loved Jason a lot. The twin thing made them close. It was a little odd though. I kind of always though they were a little too close

"So we were wondering if you would be willing to stay in Riverdale for awhile so Cheryl could have someone" he says

Stay in Riverdale? I thought for a moment. I know how Cheryl was. I wouldn't say she was crazy...but she sure as hell wasn't very level headed at most times.

"I don't know, I mean I'd have to transfer schools and leave my home. It just seems like a lot." I explain

I understand what Cheryl is feeling but I have my own life here in my town. "You don't even have to bring anything we can buy you all new stuff and you'll have an amazing room here in thorn hill" he insisted. I looked at my mom "hang on uncle Clifford" I say into the phone. I move it away from my face

"they want me to stay in Riverdale with them" I say "well that's ok with me. you can go if you would like" she says to me "but mom this is all very sudden everything is happening so fast. I mean summer ends in just a few days j mean I have school" I sighed

I thought about it, we are blossoms after all my family wasn't as rich as Cheryls since her father owned the business. "You'd love Riverdale high school it's a good school. It's where I graduated after all." My mom boasted. I then realized I'd be able to get away from my mother for awhile.

"Ok I guess I'll go maybe it will be like a vacation" I mutter to myself. My mom smiles at me and nods.

I put the phone back up to my face. "Ok I'll go when can I come?" I ask Clifford "fantastic (y/n) you can head over here whenever I'm sure you remember what thorn hill looks like" he says. I had only been to their huge house a few times the last time I was there was about 3-4 years ago for a overnight family reunion. "Why yes I do remember" I say "ok we'll see you soon" he says and hangs up.

I sigh and set down the phone. "How long of a drive is it again" I ask my mother "oh only about 4 hours" she says "what!" I shout "dear it won't take that long and besides I can have Dave drive you there" she says. Dave was like our personal taxi driver he drove us everywhere. I looked at the clock it was 12:30pm if I got packed in 30 minutes and left at 1 I would arrive around 5pm depending on traffic it may be 5:30. "Ok I'll go pack now. Have Dave get the car ready I'll be ready by 1pm" I say then rush up stairs "ok" my mom shouts

I run upstairs to my bedroom and grab my black suitcase. I go to my closet and grab some dresses, skirts, jeans, and tops. I pretty much took my whole closet. I neatly put all my clothes in my suitcase. I grabbed a second smaller suitcase for the rest of my clothes I wanted to take and then I was left with just enough room to put my makeup and other items like my hairbrush and tooth brush. Basically any other important items I needed.

I grabbed my two suitcases and my purse I currently had everything I needed like my wallet and headed out of my room. Once I reached the staircase Dave was there. "Hello Miss Blossom I'll take your luggage" he says "thank you" I say handing him my two suitcases.

I went down the stairs to the front door where my mother was. "Wow I can't believe I'm doing this just suddenly packing up and leaving" I say "well it's a good choice. You will love Riverdale it's a nice little town where nothing happens" she says to me "great" I say "well off you go now, I love you" she says and hugs me "love you too mom" I say. We let go of each other. I open the door and look back at her she smiles and nods at me. I wave then close the door and head to the car.
