Chapter five - Semi-formal

Your POV

I left cheer tryouts and went home with Cheryl but didn't go inside. I went to my car and drove to pop's for a milkshake that place had really grown on me. I parked my car in the little parking lot then went inside. I ordered my milkshake and it was out pretty fast. I took from the counter and went to find a booth. I saw Veronica at a booth by herself.

"Mind if I join you?" I ask her. "No, go ahead and sit" she says. I take a seat across from her in the booth with my milk shake. "So tryouts..." I start to say "yeah...." she says "Im glad you said what you said to Cheryl she really needed someone to put her in her place" I mumbled as I took a drink of my shake

"your not mad?" "No of course not" I laugh. "Wow thought you would be considering your her Cousin you live with her...anyways are you going to the
formal?" She asks

"oh shoot I forgot about that. Yeah Im going. when is it?" I ask "tomorrow night" she says "wow I have to buy a dress." I say thinking "yeah so do I so I'll be going now" she says leaving money and her empty glass on the table. "Ok bye Veronica" I nod "bye" she says then leaves. I move away from that booth to the one next to it. One by the window.

I take a drink from my shake. I hear the bell ring on the door. It was jughead. He spotted me and sat down across from me at the booth. "Hi" I say "hey, so I was wondering if I could interview you, not now obviously, but tomorrow night here for my book on Jason" he says pulling out his laptop

"oh yeah but tomorrow is the formal" I say narrowing my eyebrows "well I'm not going, dances aren't really my thing" he says while typing something on his laptop I sigh "well Cheryl Is throwing an after party so I can just skip that" I say looking down at my shake "no, we can do it another time"

"no really it's fine I can skip it. It will probably just be Cheryl trying to cause some kind of drama and ruin someone's night anyways" I reassure him

"Great" he says. "Are you sure you want to do it here though? Tomorrow after we could do it at your house or even on one of the blossom estates" I offered.

"No, I'd like to do it here" he said firmly. "Ok, that's fine. I'll be able to get a milkshake" I say as I take a drink of the milkshake in my hands.

"This place has grown on you already" he says and laughs. "Yeah, and I've only been here a few days. This place and just the vibe of this town is odd. I like it here" I say and shrug.

"That's good, but I have an odd feeling things in Riverdale are going to start changing" he says as he glances out the window. "Yeah? How so?" I asked. "This Jason thing still isn't sitting right with me." He mumbled.

"They haven't even had a memorial yet. I mean I know they don't have the body but having closure would be nice. I think they keep hoping he'll just come home but I have a feeling Jason is dead" I explained.

"He is mostly likely dead" jughead said with a nod. Hearing those words...it was hard to hear. But honestly, is Jason was alive he'd be home by now.

"I know, he's probably gone..." I say quietly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be so blunt..." he mumbles. "It's fine, I'm not stupid. If Jason was alive he'd be home by now. Unless he got kidnapped but who's kidnapping big teenage boys"

Jughead nods in a agreement. "You've got a point. That's why I just feel like something is off. Things like this don't happen in Riverdale"

"Anyways Jughead, I have to go I need to go get a dress for the formal. I'll see you here after the dance" I told him as I stood up. "Of course, see you tomorrow" he said as he typed away in that laptop.

I went to the little dress store in town and bought a couple dresses since I couldn't decide. I didn't want anything super fancy either considering it was a semi formal and I wouldn't even be going to the after party. After I found a dress I went home.
