**Ross POV**

The morning went by so slow. We were meeting the girls at noon, at the beach. And it seemed like noon would never come. I got up at about 7, and slumped out of bed. Dragged my feet down the stairs to the kitchen and got some juice. I was the only one awake. I say at the counter with my hand resting on my cheek, slowly sipping my juice. When Rydel skipped in, still don't understand we're her energy comes from.

"I'm going for a jog! See you later." She poked my head, and walked out of the kitchen. I finished off my juice and just sat there for a bit, trying to gain energy to walk all the way back up the stairs to shower. Mornings suck. I finally got the energy to get off my butt and start moving to the bathroom to shower, hopefully wake up.

After about 20 minutes in the shower, I felt refreshed and awake. I wrapped my towel around my waist and made my way out of the bathroom and to my room. I shut my bedroom door behind me and walked over to my dresser slipping on my pink swim shorts and a grey shirt. I glanced over at the clock it's only 8. Only and hour had passed, the hell. I groaned and walked over to my phone to check if Kairi maybe texted me, nope. The only text I got was from my mum.

Mum: Good morning my sunshine!

I replied with a simple Good morning Mum and threw my phone on my bed. I walked down stairs to see Rocky lounging in the living room watching TV. I looked to see what he was watching and it was Austin&Ally

"Dude, no." I looked at him. And he started to laugh "I just turned on the TV, and this is what came on. Trust me I wouldn't be watching Austin&Ally in my free time. Mum plays it enough." I sat next to him and we flipped through the channels. Soon enough everyone was awake and downstairs. Rydel eventually came back from her jog and went and got a shower. After a while everyone got their showers and we shoved all our surfboards, towels, everything into the van and headed to the beach.

The beach was practically empty so we found a pretty good spot right away. We set up and Riker, Rocky and Ryland went out to the waves while Rydel tanned. I quickly ran to Kairi's house to pick her and Maria up. I knocked on the back door and her dad opened the door.

"Hello Ross." He said "Hey Mr. Montano." He shook my hand "The girls should be dow-" "Hey Ross." Kairi and Maria came up behind him. "Oh, never mind. Be home by 5 please." He turned to face Kairi "Will do dad." Kairi kissed his cheek and both she and Maria joined me outside “Hey, you got a new surfboard!” I pointed to the board under her arm. “Yeah! My dad surprised me with two new ones yesterday. We started walking down the stairs, me following them. When we got to the bottom of the stairs, I hooked my arm around Kairi’s shoulders and gave her a peck on the lips. “Dude, when are you going to tell your dad about you and Ross?” Maria questioned. Kairi looked up at me “Uh, I dunno yet, soon maybe.” We walked our beach spot; Rydel was still tanning but is asleep now. Maria and Kairi threw their towels down, I grabbed my board from the sand and we headed out to join the guys. I’m kind of excited to really see Kairi surf; see how much skill she has.

My god, Maria and Kairi are insanely good. Better than all of us combined. She and I battled for almost every wave, she practically won every time, and I’ll admit, I was trying really hard to beat her. We swam back to the shore to get food, and Rydel was awake watching us walk to her.  “You guys killed it out there!” She said to Kairi and Maria, giving them both five highs. “Thanks, both of us raised by surfers’ kind of helps.” Kairi exclaimed “Yep, been surfing since I was five years old.” Maria held up her five fingers. “Yeah, whatever, we let you get every wave.” I cut in. Kairi looked back at me and I gave her a wink. “What time is it?” Riker asked taking a seat on his towel. “Uh, it’s like quarter to 3.” Rydel said looking down at her phone. “Wait shit, its quarter to 3! Tyson!” She picked up her towel, and wedged her feet into the sandals. “Sorry guys, I have to go, I need to meet him at Starbucks in an hour and I’m all sweaty and gross.” She threw on a random shirt “Hey that’s my-” I started to say “Don’t care! I’ll give it back. Text me later Kairi!” She called behind her shoulder as she ran off the beach.  Okay Rydel, that’s cool too, I don’t need a shirt I guess. I put my board down on the sand and sat on it “Riker can you pass me a water bottle?” he opened the cooler bag and threw me a bottle. Kairi and Maria laid out their towels and lay down on their stomachs. I watched them talk and giggle to one another, as I sipped my water bottle. I tuned out everything, and just focused on Kairi. The way she laughs and smiles, how beautiful her hair looks even though it’s up in a messy bun.

“Ross?” a handful of sand was thrown at me “Jeez, what?”  “Do you want to go back out?” Rocky asked “Oh yeah, Sure. You guys want to come?” I looked at Kairi and Maria “No, we’re going to tan for a bit, you guys go.” Kairi said. I picked up my board, put the safety strap around my ankle and ran out to the ocean with Rocky, Riker, and Ryland.

**Kairi POV**

“So, tell me. Is Ross a good kisser?” Maria looked at me, I watched the boys swim out on their boards “Yeah, well I think so. I’ve never really kissed a guy before Ross, so there’s nothing to compare him to.” I picked up the sand, and let it fall through my fingers “That is true...” We laid in silence allowing the sun hit our backs, my eye lids got heavy and I let them shut “Kairi.”

“Yeah?” I said without opening my eyes “I’m going to miss you when I leave tomorrow.” I forgot she was leaving. I opened my eyes and looked at her “It sucks not having you. I’m so use to seeing you every day, and now I never see you.” She was looking down at the sand. “I’m going to miss you too...Trust me, it’s so weird not having you at my house 24/7, and not talking to you everyday.” Her head fell into the sand and let out a loud grunt. “What time is your flight tomorrow?” she lifted her head “8am” then let it fall back into the sand. “Oh you’re going to be cranky!” she grunted again. Maria is not a morning person, you do not want to get between her and her sleep. “I’m going to try and go sleep early tonight, so then I can be some what happy in the morning.” She mumbled into the sand. I started to laugh and I put my head down, letting myself feel the suns rays warm my back. I eventually flipped over so my tummy could get some love from the sun and I ended up falling asleep.

What seemed like 5 minutes of being asleep, I was woken up by wet droplets hitting my body. I opened my eyes to see Ross standing over me, his head in the way of the sun running his hands over her wet hair “Hey! You’re awake!” he moved his head causing the sun to hit my in the eyes, winced and sat up. “Yeah, thanks to you.” I nudged Maria, and she just moaned “What time is it?” I asked Ross “It’s almost 5.” My shoulders sank, and I got up from the ground. “Well we gotta go.” I kicked Maria to get her up. “Do you want me to walk you 2 home” Maria stood up with her towel and board in hand “No its okay.” I got up on my tippy toes and kissed him “Thanks for a great day” I said against his lips, and kneeled down to pick up my towel and board “Bye guys!” I waved at the rest of them “Bye, it was nice meeting all of you!” Maria said “Group hug!” Riker said standing up pulling everyone towards him “It was nice meeting you too, Maria” Riker said loosening her grip around us. Rocky, Ryland and Ross all said their goodbyes to her and we left.

When we got back my house we threw our boards on the balcony and went inside the house. My dad was in the kitchen cooking, it smelt really good. “Hey girls, how was the beach?” He looked back at us “It was good; the waves were really nice today.” Shit, I forgot to introduce him to the rest of the Lynch’s; maybe he forgot “Oh good! So how come I still haven’t met the rest of your friends, Kairi?” Nope, no he did not forget “Uh, well they had to leave as well, I promise you will meet them.” “Hmm, alright, Taco’s sound good?” he asked “Sound and smell really good.”

The night went on, we ate our tacos, which were really yummy, and crashed out on the couch watching some more surfing. Maria fell asleep at 8 and I was still wide awake so I changed into some sweat pants and a tank top and decided to wax my boards. I walked out onto the balcony to feel the cool salt water breeze hit my bare arms. I took out my head phones and plugged them into my phone and turned on ‘Only Love’ by Ben Howard. I sat the two boards on the table, taking my wax bar in hand and started doing small circles up and down the body of my board. When the light came on and the door opened, my dad poked his head out the door; I took out my right head phone “Not to late sweetheart, have to get up early.” “I won’t, good night dad.” He slowly shut the door “Night.”I plugged the ear bud back into my ear and I went back to waxing my board when the music faded, informing me I got a text. I let go of the bar and wiped my hands on my sweats before taking out my phone. It was Ross

Ross: I see you.

I narrowed my eyes at my phone.

Me: What?

I took my ear phones out and laid them on my board. I turned around to see Ross leaning against the wall smiling.

“Hey you.”
