What's happening? Am I drowning? Something is grabbing me I can't fight back, am I going to die like this?
"Kairi?! Wake up!" I hear someone say, Ross maybe? Why can't I respond? I CAN HEAR YOU.
"Did you check if she has a pulse? Maybe give her mouth to mouth, Riker?" sounded like a girl, must have been Rydel.
"Yeah, I'll do it." Next thing I know someone pinched my nose and had their mouth planted right on mine, putting deep breaths into my body. The person pulled away and started pumping on my chest, and went back to mouth to mouth. My eyes shot open, and I grasped for air. When a rush of salt water came rushing up my throat. I quickly turn over so I wouldn't puke water in everyone's direction. My whole body was cold and shaking uncontrollably.
"She lives!" Ellington shouts, and comes over and wraps a beach towel around me.
"Are you okay? How do you feel?" Rydel asks whilst she comes over and sits next to me.
"I think I'm good, my whole body aches, my throat burns but other than that I'm good." I take a deep breath "I don't know went wrong, I just forgot to not put so much weight on the back of the board; guess that's what I get for not surfing in a while." I say, putting myself down. "No need for to be so hard on yourself, what matters is that you're alright now. Plus if it wasn't for Ross, I don't think you would be sitting here." Rydel responded. I looked up at Ross; his face was pale, eyes wide taking deep breaths. I can't believe he went under to save me; looks like he wasn't the only one that was beat up by the wave. "Thank you, So much." Giving him a weak smile.
"No problem, I felt like it was my fault. I challenged you to get the wave and when I saw your snapped surfboard go flying up without the safety cord attached to you, I just did the first thing that came to mind." Ross replied giving me a weak smile in return.
"Such a hero!" Ryland called out, and punched Ross in the arm.
"Wait, hold up. My surfboard snapped... As in my only surfboard is now in 2 pieces." Everyone mumbled yes's and looked away from me. When Ross came up to me giving me the now 2 pieces of my surfboard, and placed them on my lap. "Oh lovely..." I pouted and looked at my dead board
"Hey! Wanna come over to our house for brunch? I bet you're starved!" Rydel asked taking my attention away from my board
"Yeah, Sure. I should probably eat some food. But first I want to go back to my place to let my dad know where I'm going and to put some warmer clothing on."
"I can go with you, if you want! So then I can walk back to our place or whatever" Ross offered
"Alright, sure." Agreeing to his offer.
"So the five if us will go back our place and Ross goes with you, sounds good!" Rydel thought out loud, while getting up and reaching down to help me up "See you two in a bit!" Rydel says as she walks way with the guys leaving Ross and I alone.
I was still really shaky and unstable, so when we started walking, I couldn't really keep my balance; Ross had to put his arm around me so I wouldn't fall on my face.
"So where about do you live?" He asked
"Oh, I just live a couple houses down on the beach."
"Whoa, lucky you, get to live right on the beach, kind of jealous of you."
I smile "You jealous of me? Crazy talk, I'm jealous of you! You have brothers and a sister! I wish I had siblings, but unfortunately it's just me and my dad." I could feel him look down at me, I knew what he was thinking 'where's your mum?' I decided to save him from asking and just told him "I don't know my mum, she left me and my dad when I was still in diapers, so it's just been me and him." I don't think Ross knew what to say really, we walked in silence for a bit. Not liking the quietness I stopped and said "Ross, it really is okay. It doesn't bug me that she left me and my dad. Yeah it's been hard but that hasn't stopped us from living our life."
