Cardboard Sick Bowls

*A few weeks later*

"Alfie, I've got to go see the midwife today," I shouted.

"I know you told me about this time yesterday," He shouted back, I giggled and put on some of my new clothes and maternity jeans. "Wow, you can't even tell your pregnant." Alfie smiled as he walked into our room.

"Kinda the idea," I laughed, buttoning over my shirt. "I was thinking,"

"Mhmm baby," Alfie put his head on my shoulder and his arms around my stomach.

"Let's tell the viewers today," I whispered, he took his arms off of me and span me round.

"You sure?" He mumbled, looking at me with wide eyes.

"Well, let's do a Q&A Video and answer one of the questions about a baby," I whispered. "It's not a good idea, I know," I sighed, looking at my toes.

Without warning, Alfie scooped me up and span me round. I squealed in delight but then suddenly felt really sick. I hit Alfie's back, after which he quickly dropped me, I ran to the bathroom and chucked up in the loo.

Alfie ran in shortly after and held my hair back and rubbed my back as I continued to throw up. You know it's real love when you're sitting cross legged throwing up at the toliet because of your baby and he's holding your hair back.

Gah, isn't this just a great way for family bonding?

"Alfie, I'm really nervous. This isn't normal, right?" I asked, holding his hand tightly. I had one of those horrible cardboard sick trays that you get at hospital from the secretary in the clinic. She gave me it quickly as soon as I was sick all over the waiting room floor...

I've been sick an awful lot ever since I was this morning and I'm starting to think there's a problem, I mean I've never been this sick in my life.

"You're fine and so is the baby," Alfie said, kissing me cheek. "But you smell of sick so I'm gonna just breathe through my mouth," He chuckled as I swotted at his arm. "I still love you!" He gasped.

"I love you to silly," I smiled, putting my head on his shoulder. "Crap," I mumbled as I ran to the corner and was sick in my cardboard bucket. I didn't want to be sick in front of everyone, although this isn't much better.

"Alfie, they're all looking at me aren't they?" I whispered, as my throat started to ache. Alfie dropped my sick bucket in the bin and came and sat next to me. "Alfie, they are," I whispered, starting to cry.

The room was spinning and it was becoming harder and harder to breathe. The vomittings made it so much worse, I've been feeling panicky all day.

"No ones looking at you baby," He whispered, cuddling me. "You're fine, everyone's fine," He pulled me closer.

I held my throat, hoping that the pain would go away. Before I knew it, I was in hysterics on the waiting room floor, surrounding by worried staff.

"I know what's happening," A young girl in a blue pinny smiled. "Hey, look I know it's hard but what I need you to do is zone out. Think about your favourite place in the world, and there's a little kid, it could be your child. He has a balloon and he needs you to blow it up for him," She whispered, taking the hand Alfie wasn't holding.

"Go on then, you need to blow the balloon up baby," Alfie whispered, putting his head on mine. I managed to kind of nod and focus on my breathing.

After a while, I stopped and was sitting in the midwifes room. Alfie had gone in search of the women to say thanks for helping and I was sat in the nurses office.

"How are you feeling?" She asked, handing me a cup of water. I took a sip and nodded. "I'm better," I whispered.

"Are you okay to go ahead with the scan?" She asked. "I can re-schedule?"

"No, it might make today better," I smiled.

"Okay, it's this scan I might be able to tell the gender," She whispered, as I lay down.

"Really?" I gasped as Alfie walk in the door. "Alfie, we can find out if it's a girl or a boy!"

He nodded gleefully and took my hand as I lay down.

Maybe this will make today a bit more bearable...
