"Shit, Alfie!" I shouted as I clutched my stomach. He came running in, like he has done every time. He really is the best.

"What, are they real?" He asked, getting panicked. He ran to the door and grabbed my hospital bag.

I'd been having what are called 'Braxton Hicks' contractions. I only know this because I thought I was in labour and we drove to the hospital in a panic. They told me it was normal and they would essentially feel different to the real contractions.

Still, it hurts like hell.

I shook my head and held my stomach. If the real contractions are any more painful than this, I'm screwed.

Alfie wrapped his arms around my back and cuddled me close. He tried to soothe me while the contractions passed. Eventually, it stopped and I felt back to normal. Well as normal as a 38 week pregnant lady can be.

He kissed me sweetly on the forehead and walked to answer the door which someone had just recently knocked at. I'm assuming it's my Mum because she's moved to Brighton now, or just on the outskirts. She lives about 40 minutes away which isn't as bad.

She used to live about 2 hours away so anything under and hour is great.

My Mum's been a huge help, she's been popping round daily to check on me and been helping around the house the days when I just couldn't manage it (or when I could just didn't want to).

"Hey sweetie, no babies yet?" She sighed. I shook my head.

"But lots of Braxton hell," I whimpered, I stood up, very slowly to hug her. She kissed my cheek in a sympathetic way.

"Well, I'm sure they'll be here very soon. You've obviously just made a lovely home for them in there," She smiled, rubbing my belly.

"Yeah, cut the cheesy crap," I grunted without thinking. I immediately covered my mouth and my Mum just looked confused. "I'm sorry! Can I blame hormones and mood swings?!"

Alfie and my Mum ended up laughing.

"She's been like that for the last week Tracy, I wouldn't take it personally," Alfie chuckled, my Mum just shook her head.

"It's fine pet, I think I said the exact same thing to your father. It's just these hormones and shit!" She laughed, hitting my shoulder playfully. Wow, I've never seen my Mum this happy and playful apart from when she's drunk. "Excuse my French!"

She covered her mouth as I laughed and hugged her.

The baby news has just seemed to make everyone happier and I'm so pleased.

(Why do I always feel the need to end with some corny line? Haha ;p)
