Peter's POV
The storm rendered us stranded to the tower. Mr. Stark had sent out his iron legion, Nat was trying to hack into security cameras around the city to see if any had caught a glimpse of him or Y/N, and Steve, Thor, and I were absolutely useless; all of us either pacing back and forth or constantly interrupting Mr. Stark and Nat restless for any type of lead. The storm had rendered our search futile; the Winter Soldier had disappeared with Y/N.
For days we searched and monitored for any sign of them, getting no closer to pinpointing any possible location than the day she had been taken. Not one of us got a wink of sleep or left the tower for any reason, except me. I had to go back home to let May know I was alright. Didn't want to cause her any unnecessary anxiety. I realized that what held the Avengers together, a group of powerful superhero's, geniuses, and gods, was a strong, bright, and witty young girl.
Wait...if someone knew that Y/N held the Avengers together, of course they would target her above any body else, hiding her so well that we all would go crazy because of her absence. The Winter Soldier had no motive on his own to destroy the Avengers, but Hydra did! So he hadn't gone rogue, but was still working for Hydra! This meant Y/N was probably being kept at some secret Hydra base!
"Mr. Stark! Nat! I think I know where we can start looking for Y/N! I think we should start searching for any signs of her or the Winter Soldier at some of known Hydra bases!"
"Why would she be there? The Winter Soldier went solo a long time ago." Tony asked, clearly confused.
"Mr. Stark if the WS (Winter Soldier) was solo, what person does he have a score to settle with...I mean other than Steve, but that wouldn't motivate him to take Y/N. What if Hydra brainwashed him again. Hydra then knows she exists and how important she is to all of us, not just you. Then they would hide her driving us all crazy, hoping it would cause the demise of the Avengers at our own hands. That also means they don't have to keep her alive. Just her disappearance could aid in the Avengers split. Meaning, we don't have a lot of time, and that if Hydra is behind this they are probably keeping her at a Hydra base."
"Wow kid! You're smarter than any of us give you credit for! He's definitely starting to learn from you, Tony." Nat smiled, clearly pleased at my momentary stroke of genius.
"Ok. If that's the case, we need to calibrate our sensors to start focusing on all known Hydra locations and look for any attempt at contact with the outside world. Y/N's bright and resourceful and has probably found a way to send out some type of distress signal. I mean she's a Stark, so we can at least bank in that." Tony said.
Days went by...nothing. Maybe it was all for nothing...maybe I was right and she was already dead...if that's the case I pray I'm wrong.
Nat was trying to catch some shut eye, so Steve was put in charge of monitoring the computer. All of the sudden he screamed. "Guys there's something! Some...well it looked like a weak signal coming from one of bases!"
Within seconds Tony had already rushed over pinpointing the exact location. "Washington DC. They are hiding right under our noses, not to mention the governments either. It looked like it's more than a beacon but more like a live radio transmission. Let me try to focus to the correct frequency.
None of us expected or wanted to hear what started coming across the radio. Screams. Screams of utter torture, pain, and despair. I knew it was Y/N, but I didn't want to believe it. Tears started streaming down my face and all I wanted to do is cover my ears and make it stop. I can't believe under my watch I had let this happen. This was all my fault...if I had just stayed awake a little longer she would still be here...and not...not being tortured or even worse...dying. Hydra was not known for their acts of mercy but for their most horrendous types of torture they inflicted on their victims. I knew we didn't have long.
After gathering our gear and forming a plan we set out. All of us, even Mr. Stark, although I don't really think he wanted to even though his own daughter was suffering at the hand of the same organization that had killed his own parents.
"Hold on Y/N...we are on our way." Steve prayed aloud. The same prayer echoing in my own heart.
Y/N's POV
I woke up to the cold touch of a metal hand brushing my hair out of my face. I was in the same position I collapsed in sitting a pool of blood from my arm. At this point I had lost so much blood I didn't know how I was still alive. I slowly opened my eyes as he continued staring into my eyes. I saw that same sympathetic and almost pitying look on his face as he looked at me. He almost looked like he was fighting an inner demon. Neither of us spoke. For some reason when he had that look I wasn't afraid of him, maybe because he seemed almost human and not a complete psychopath. Maybe I was developing Stockholm syndrome. Probably was to be honest.
I slowly sat up and shifted myself back to the corner the room, to rest weak body up against.
He looked down at my arm and asked as he gently lifted it up, "Doll, is your arm alright?"
I wanted to say 'does it look alright to you?' but I didn't. I winced slightly as he touched my pale and slightly blue hued arm. I nodded and mustered a weak smile. He went to remove the gauze that had been stuffed their earlier but I whined in objection. I knew if it started bleeding again I was done. I was already feeling the affects of blood loss compounded on the affects of hunger and dehydration.
Completely exhausted I again fell unconscious. While I was out, once again I was drug to to room with the torture chair.
Same questions. Same scientists. Same punishment for my non compliance. Torture. This time though each restraint had a small mechanical blade attached to it, digging into my major blood vessels each time they were activated. I no longer had the energy to scream but just pant in pane and whine like an injured puppy.
When I was brought back to my room, I had given up all hope of getting rescued but I refused to tell them anything, so I lay there barely enough energy left inside of me to breathe. Then I heard the unmistakable sounds of a helicopter or some type of aircraft, and waited for my rescuers, falling unconscious dreaming of having ice cream with Peter.
