He Killed me and I Haunt him
Chapter 5
Shane and I head to school after getting ready, which was really me waiting while he got his things ready.
It was strange not getting ready for school in the mornings anymore now that i think about it that is.
I've been trying terribly hard to forget that I'm no longer a living person, but with all the things and people passing through it's hard to forget.
Once we got on the bus I rode yesterday with my friend Caskey a few memories came back.
They were only little clips of memory though, nothing more.
>>>MEMORIES<<<
Laughing.
Talking.
Walking.
Good-byes.
Trees.
Then screaming.
<<<END OF MEMORIES>>>
Once they ended we were at the school, his school.
I got up and hurried off the bus with Shane behind me.
Looking at the school I realize his school was my school.
I looked back, behind me to Shane.
"You go to my school?" i ask, very surprised.
"Yes, I'm a new student. I have most of your classes. I'm not surprised that you don't remember me." he says and walks up the cement steps to the three double doors.
I follow him trying to stay away from everyone's touch.
We walk down the west corridor and up the stairs.
He stops next to the Biology class and points at a locker next to it.
"This is your locker? This one's my locker." I say and point to the one next to his.
He nods and I just pass my head through the door of my locker.
I take my head back out and open the locker for Shane to see all my stuff.
It's covered in pictures of my family and friends.
There's a picture of my dog Charlotte and me outside in the yard.
A picture of Caskey and me at her 16th birthday party.
In the middle of all the pictures there is one that is so much more special.
It's a picture of my little sister when she was a baby.
She was just born an hour ago when they let me hold her.
I was eleven then, when she was born.
Could it have only been two days ago when I was killed?
A tear slides down my cheek to my chin.
It stays there for a moment, before falling to the floor.
Just like me.
Once there, now gone.
A hand links with mine, I'm surprised by the touch of this hand, the warmth I have lost feeling of since dieing.
I look down at it then up in front of me.
Shane stands there smiling.
"How-how did you-how can you?" I stumble over my words as I'm watching Shane smile wider then walk away into the Biology class.
I close my locker by concentrating on it and only it.
OMG! I think I have telekinesis!!!
Running into the Biology class I go over to the desk by the window that shows the lovely garden behind the school.
It's also where Shane is sitting.
I take the stool next to his and smile at him my very own 'I know something you don't know' smile.
One of his eyebrows raise while his face remains the same with a bored expression.
My hand instantly goes above the measurement cup in front of me.
I concentrate on it just like i did with my locker.
The cup levitates an inch above the top of the table.
I gently lower it back down and turn my head to Shane, only he's not the only one beside me.
A boy i know named Mark has come over and stood by Shane, staring at the cup.
Shane hasn't noticed the boy yet so i start pointing towards his side.
He turns his head around slowly and just freezes up.
I wave my hands in front of both Mark and Shane's faces.
Shane unfreezes before Mark does and gives me a surprised look before looking over at Mark again.
Mark finally unfreezes and says in a whisper, " Hey Shane, hey Taylor, um what was tha-"
Shane interrupts Mark and says," Who's Taylor? I'm the only one here, Mark." , with a serious face.
"No, your not. Taylor is sitting right next to you. She has long black hair with deep blue eyes. How can you not notice her?" ,Mark says with a confused expression.
Right then is when I start to wonder if Mark does see me.
I walk slowly around Shane to Mark, he's watching my every move, seeing my every move.
He raises his hand toward me and says, "Taylor, you know your practically so pale that your see through right now?", and smiles at me.
I look to Shane and ask him, "Can he really see me? am I visible?"
Mark tries grabing for my hand but his slips right through mine.
His face goes ashen as he backs away.
I see the horror on his face and start running.
The bathrooms are only down the hall but I don't go there, there's a supply closet close by to but I don't go there either.
I run down the stairs and out the double doors, only noticing after i've stopped that I wasn't running I was flashing the whole way, not once did my feet really hit the ground.
While I was flashing a white light was radiating off me.
Behind me stands Shane, I know this because of his heart.
It beats wildly, singing a song only I can hear.
He doesn't hear this song because he has chosen to close off his feelings.
I'm not sure how I know this I just feel it deep within my condemned soul.
I turn around toward Shane.
He walks the few steps between us and envelopes me in his arms, his heart beat singing, his warmth filling my emptiness.
"You aren't a full vampire are you? You're a hafling. Half vampire, half human.", my face is filled with confusen at this knowledge.
It entered my mind and stuck there without my knowing.
"Yes. I am a halfling. How do you know?" Shane asks after taking a step back from me, looking me in the eyes.
"I don't know, I just somehow knew... can we go home? I don't think I can stay here any longer." I say and walk a few steps back before I slip through someone on the sidewalk.
That one slip made me run as fast as I could toward home, my real home.
