PERCY'S POV
The next day when Percy woke up, he felt so incredible he didn't even know it was possible. The feeling was similar to the one he got when he swam through the water, cool but refreshing. Cheerfully, Percy got up and stretched sleepily. Nico was still fast asleep and Percy thought it was best not to wake him. He got dressed and walked into the hotel room kitchen, flicking on the lights. His vision was instantly blinded as the fluorescent lights turned his vision white. Soon the cloudy sensation faded and he was left with a small refrigerator and microwave. Yawning for a second, he opened the fridge and rummaged through the fridge for something to make. However, there was nothing, and he decided they would go out for breakfast once Nico woke up. As if right on cue, the son of Hades stumbled into the kitchen.
"God's it's bright," Nico mumbled. Percy grinned and walked over to Nico and wrapped his arms around him and Nico did the same. However, when Percy let go, Nico clung even tighter to him. Stunned, Percy wrapped his arms around his boyfriend once more.
"Hey Neeks. What's wrong?" Percy cooed. "Bad dreams?" Nico looked up at Percy and gave him a small nod.
"Wanna tell me about it?"
"No."
Percy stared at Nico, completely stunned. That wasn't like him. Normally when Nico came back from a bad dream, he would cuddle with Percy and tell him all about it, and Percy would kiss his forehead and rub his finger across his hand until he fell asleep. But now Nico was demanding, almost like he was afraid Percy would make him tell.
"O-oh, okay," Percy stammered, unable to keep the hurt out of his voice. Nico blinked, completely unfazed by how hurt Percy was. That just made the cruel claws of betrayal dig harder into Percy. His heart felt like it was being shattered into a million pieces and he felt betrayed.
"Hey I was wondering..." Percy said but Nico was already walking away. Dumbfounded, Percy watched him. What was wrong with Nico?
"Nico what the hell!" Percy yelled after his boyfriend. Nico stopped and turned around.
"What?" Nico snapped, his voice as cold as ice.
"What's wrong with you? What did I ever do?" Percy demanded. Sudden guilt washed over Nico's expression.
"Nothing Percy. It's just... Nothing." With a guilty look, Nico quickly hurried into the bathroom, slamming the door behind him. Percy let out an angry growl. Whatever was on Nico's mind he'd better snap out of it fast.
But what if he's truly upset? What if I did something to make him mad?
Fear clawed at Percy. Was Nico mad because Percy wanted him so bad? Was he mad about last night? Thoughts swirled through Percy's brain, unable to be controlled. Nico Nico Nico was the only thing on his mind.
He retraced his steps, remembering every last thing that had happened. Percy relived every moment in his mind, desperately searching for what he could've done wrong.
Then, nearby, Welcome to the Black Parade sounded. Nico's ringtone. Hesitantly, Percy walked over to where the music was coming from. Percy picked up Nico's black iPhone and looked down. Unknown. Should he answer?
Then, he made the biggest mistake of his life. If Percy could see into the future, he would've thrown his boyfriend's phone out the window. But instead fate took its toll and Percy answered.
"Hello?" Percy said.
"Hi, is this Nico?" A female voice sounded.
Doing his best impression of Nico, Percy cleared his throat and replied, "Yes, yes it is."
"Yeah well, I have some news..." The voice was scared and a little excited. Percy held his breath and waited for the response.
The response was a nightmare being lived. It was the darkest and most demonic thing, something so horrid not even Hades himself could dream of something so awful. It was two simple words, two words that could change someone's life. Such as "Help me" or "I'm dying." But no, these two words were so much worse, so much more painful.
"I'm pregnant."
"Who is this," Percy demanded, not even bothering to keep up the Nico accent.
"Huh? It's Destiny. Who else would you have knocked up??? Is there someone else I don't know about?" The voice responded, anger evident in her voice. Destiny obviously didn't realize yet that it wasn't Nico.
"Why yes. His name is Perseus Jackson and I'd love for you to tell me what the hell you're talking about," Percy yelled, outrage clear in his voice.
"You don't remember?" Destiny said. "Wow, Aphrodite must've wiped your memory good. It was three months ago, in your cabin. I just found out today.. Wow we're going to have a demigod baby!" Destiny cried with delight.
Suddenly, the phone was knocked out of Percy's hand. It was sent backward by a torrent of shadow. Percy looked up to see Nico.
His eyes were bright and panicked. He searched Percy's gaze desperately. He seemed so... Lost. And afraid. Similar to how he was...
"Before I met you," Percy whispered out loud.
"Y-you know," Nico whispered, "and now you're going to leave aren't you?" The look Nico gave Percy was so heartbroken and depressed that Percy felt a twinge of sympathy for his boyfriend.
"When?" Percy demanded, even though he already knew.
"Th-three months ago," Nico whispered. "It's all I can remember. The last thing I remember is me entering her and..." His boyfriend trailed off and his shoulders slumped. Nico started to quiver and Percy put his arm around him.
"Let's go to breakfast and you can tell me the whole story. No, I'm not mad," Percy said as Nico looked at him in fear, "I just want to know. Okay?" Nico nodded and jogged back to the bedroom. He reappeared a moment later with his aviator jacket and Percy's blue pullover. Nico handed it to Percy and Percy slipped it on.
"Okay, let's go," Percy said as he walked out the door. He didn't even bother to take Nico's hand as he left the hotel room and entered the unfamiliar area. Nico sadly followed behind him, making the lights flicker because of his emotions. For a moment, Percy felt bad, but he felt like there was something he hadn't told Nico either. There was just one problem...
He couldn't remember.
