PERCY'S POV

Part of him felt bad for kicking Nico out. After all, Zoe was old enough to be able to stay on the bed by herself. In all honesty, he knew the real reason he'd kicked him out. Their arguments had been getting more and more rough lately. Nico had started throwing things when he was angry and shouting. Sometimes skeletons even tore up out of the ground because of his rage.

Percy was scared for Zoe. The shouting and yelling scared her, but what scared her more was the dark. Every time Percy and Nico argued, the whole cabin was shrouded in shadow. The room wasn't just dark, it was worse than dark. It was like an endless black void of fear and anger that was impossible to see through. The only way to make this kind of void to go away is if Percy begged Nico to stop. Percy hated begging.

Now that he was back in control, he realized how much more relieved he felt; like the weight of the world had been lifted off of his shoulders. With Nico gone, the sea animals were starting to come back to the lake around Percy's cabin and the camp felt a bit warmer.

Of course, Percy had his fair share of anger problems too. Sometimes the sink would unhinge and water would begin to flood the cabin. Occasionally, the rush of water was such an angry torrent that Jason had to help him control the water. Also, during their really bad arguments, starfish and various other sea creatures would begin to attack Nico. Really, it was for the best that he was gone.

Then how come I miss him so much? Percy wondered as he fell asleep.

---------------------------

That night, a loud bang woke Percy up. He shot out of his bed and immediately checked the time. 2:57 in the morning. The sound was too loud to be the cabin settling, so what was it? Immediately, Percy went to Zoe's room. It was too dark to see at first, but when he flicked on the light, a horrifying sight was waiting for him.

Zoe's window  was broken and a rock lay on the floor beside the window as though someone had broken it to get in.

If that wasn't bad enough, something even more terrifying was present.

Zoe was gone.
