"Aha!" Syria yelled, as she impaled the creature's eye with her knife. But her victory would not last long.
Immediately, a volcanic eruption of green goop spurted out of his eye.
Syria screamed, and tried covering herself with her shield.
The creature thrashed its body in pain, while screaming different octaves... Some of the screams were high pitched, some of them were incredibly deep.
Syria looked like she was going to throw up. Or could that just be the blood?
Syria screamed. She then wriggled from foot to foot, trying to keep her balance. It looked like she was holding onto one of it's spikes, desperately trying to hang on.
On her third scream, she fell.
I ran as fast as I could. I needed to cushion her fall SOMEHOW. Or else, she could have
extreme injuries."Syria!" I screamed, trying to catch her attention. She sort of heard me, cause she looked around, while she was trying to grab some spikes from the thing, but would only grip it for a few seconds, the result, her screaming in agony, as her hands grew thick with scrapes and blood.
Once I was in a securable position, I lengthened my arms out for her.
"Syria!" I shouted. She saw me and shook her head "no".
"C'mon! It's my turn to save you!" Syria jerked her head at me, blushing furiously. Or at least, I thought so, since there was barely any light.
"No! Just, I'll keep climbing... I can hit the other eyes!" She started making her way up.
"Syria, no!" I screamed. But she wouldn't listen. She kept climbing. I tried going after her. I couldn't. The creature was moving too quickly.
Once she was on top of the head. It must have been super slippery or something, because she kept loosing her balance. The creature kept thrashing. The pain was obviously getting worse and worse.
"Syria! Get down here right now! I... I... Demand you come down... NOW!" I shouted. My cheeks burned, and a smile crept on my face. I never demanded someone to do anything before!
But she shooed me off, like she knew what she was doing, which really, was the exact opposite.
She screamed. She almost took a spill. She only bent her foot in an awkward angle. I realized, it was her bad foot. I remember her telling me at dinner...
That was it. I was coming after her.
I managed to climb up a leg, onto the back. Then to the neck.
Once I made it up, Syria was desperately trying to keep balance while taking slow, steady, steps towards the only other eye.
I knew why the creature was in increasing pain. Syria had stabbed the only other three eyes it had had.
"Syria no!" I screamed. My appearance must have startled her, because she slipped. And fell.
"No!" I made my way over the side she fell on.
She was hanging by a thread on a spike, that was almost ripped off the creature's body from Syria's weight. It wasn't like Syria weighed a thousand pounds, the spike seemed to look light weight, and frail.
Syria bursted into tears. She was scared to death.
"Syria! I'm coming!" I shouted to her.
I jumped down. I know. Stupid, right?
Well, I managed to grab a spike right next to her.
"C'mon Syria!" I whispered.
I extended my arm out it her.
She whimpered, and I held on to her waist, as her arms her wrapped around my neck. She cried into my shoulder sleeve, but I didn't care.
I scaled my way down, almost loosing it a couple of times.
It took a little while for Syria to let me go. Poor thing, was in a, pale, crying fit. She was not well to go and fight off the creature. I set her as far away as possible from the creature.
Now, it was all up to me. I HAD to kill this thing.
I knew I couldn't ever reach the heart, so, I climbed the body again, exhausted.
Once I reached the neck, I almost fell. It was a LOT more slippier than I thought it would be.
Barely able to walk, the creature died down a bit. I understood it's exhaustedness. It stopped moving completely as if to say, "put me out of my misery", or, "you win".
I slowly moved to the head. I don't know why, but I bursted into tears. I had a little sympathy for the creature, but it was almost as if I had made a connection with it.
I couldn't do it. I just couldn't...
Then, there was a faint whisper. A faint, squeaky whisper.
"Please!" It seemed to say. "Please! Put me out of this cage! Trust me..."
"But-" I argued.
"Trust me..." It said. And I listened.I looked once, at the damaged, sickly yellow eyes.
Through blurry eyes, I raised my sword and...
Plunged my sword into it's neck, cutting it in half.
