Lucas woke up in a hospital bed. His head still throbbed a bit, and he felt extremely nauseous. His family was there. His parents, his older sisters, Jacey and Louisa. Along with his older brother, Collin. Even though he was the youngest out of the four, Lucas had always gotten a lot of the spotlight. Especially with his gossip worthy pranks that spread like the plague.

"Ugh. What? I don't understand!?" My mom, or now that I knew her real name was Mercy, shushed me. She stroked fly away hairs out of my fore head. "Lucas, I found you stumbling out of the cemetery. Are you alright?" I closed my eyes. The pain was unbearable. "Just please finish the story!" I replied. She sighed. She was clearly interested in my injuries and their stories. But I waved away her questions impatiently.

"After talking, your father went to talk to the victims. He told me to stay in the house, and lock everything. I even put up Defense."
"Defense... Really?" Defense was the name of their protection service for their house. Everyone got one, and it didn't look like much... But it could go to the extent of killing someone, just to keep a family safe.
"But then your father came back, saying you were missing. We spent about an hour looking for you! Do you know how scared we were?! And then to find you dazed and bleeding! It was certainly frightening! What happened?"
I gulped. There was no way she would believe me! So I just gripped my head and winced in pain. She noticed and sighed again, frustrated.

"Well... We'll let you get some sleep!" Mercy smiled and left with everyone else. Lucas eventually fell asleep. Before he closed his eyes, he promised, to never ever get involved with the strange man again.

Little did he know, that promise was going to break once he turned the age of fifteen. When he would retrieve his job and start working... As a scientist's assistant.
