chapter twelve and a half
Z.J.M
The festivities continue after Niall completes the toast. Music begins to blast through the speaks and I sigh, lifting my hand up in the air to request another drink. What Niall had suggested earlier today seeps in my brain but I highly doubt that I can bring myself up to do such a thing as even stand next to Louis when I'm not working for him. I can hardly be confident when I'm represented as an intern, let alone just as someone he knows.
A couple runs by me, drinks practically spilling out of their hands. The party element is not my place to be. I'm a bit too awkward and shy and I've never really...partied per say. I'm only here for Louis.
I sigh and take a sip of my soda, continuing to watch Louis anxiously. I see Harry and Niall leaving the party from the corner of my eye and I smirk, knowing that Niall definitely won tonight.
"Hey you..."
I'm startled as a girl with long black hair sits next to me, crossing her legs as she locks her eyes on mine.
"Hi..." I say.
"How are you enjoying the party?"
"It's...it's alright I guess."
She rests a hand on my knee and I want to knock it off so badly, to get her icy hands of me, but she only squeezes my skin and continues to talk my ear off. I don't listen to most of what she's saying, since she's probably only talking to me because she's horny. The girl is trying to crawl into my lap as she blabs on and I'm running out of options to keep her away from me.
"Zayn!"
I've never been so relieved to see Louis before in my life. He gives me a knowing smile, with reassures me immediately. He was here to drag me out of the situation.
"I need you to come over here and make sure the guests don't get out of hand, yeah?"
I happily get up from my seat and follow Louis away from the girl, who's looking at me with a longing expression in her eyes. She really was desperate...
"You ladies man," Louis snickers "She was all over you."
"Not that I liked it," I say, dusting off my pants quickly as he leads the two of us outside. The fresh air that kisses my cheeks relieves me as the crowded scene of the after party is long behind us.
"Hey," I say suddenly, "Are you okay with me leaving? I know you've been waiting your whole living life for an opportunity like this but--"
"I...I understand," Louis says, "I kind of wanna ditch too. Honestly, I don't want to spend my night with a bunch of drunk celebrities. I think spending the night with you is better than that."
I nod, trying not to let my skittishness get in the way of what could be a potential first date with Louis. I wait with him for a car to come (which he keeps grunting and complaining about. Apparently, they promised him speedy results). Once the driver came, Louis very bluntly pointed out that the man wouldn't be getting a tip. I made a mental note to pay the man on the way out because I would feel completely awful if I just left without thanking him for his service. Thought Louis is incredible, his sass can be hurtful to those that don't know him.
"Take us to the nearest ice cream place please?" he says and I'm giddy all over again because my love for ice cream can get a bit obsessive.
The drive is quiet, Louis occasionally clearing his throat and me fiddling with my fingers every five seconds out of pure fear of messing this unplanned outing up.
When the car stops and the car door opens, Louis and I step out and walk a good 50 feet to the front door of the parlor. I try and relax myself as we enter and Louis begins o order his ice cream.
"Yeah hi I'll have two scoops of chocolate ice cream please," he says, and I look at him ridiculously.
"What?"
"Don't take that order," I say to the cashier and he nods, "Louis you can't be kidding."
"Dude, does it look like I'm kidding?" he says sassily. He has a stern face, one not to be tampered with, but with something as serious as this, I let it bypass me.
"I don't really care... look you gotta destroy those toppings! Like, here. This is how you really order ice cream, okay?"
Louis holds his hands up and stands back as I order. After a paragraph of toppings and flavors, the cashier walks away and Louis gapes at me.
"Ice cream sundae, Malik style," I taunt him, "and I ordered two. Get your stomach ready."
I pull out my wallet and take out a twenty, but I see Louis from the corner of my eye trying to stop me from paying.
"No," I say, "I'm paying whether you like it or not."

The night was filled with pure and utter fun. I don't know how many gummy worms I got in my hair, though it didn't matter by now. After we had gotten past the food we stayed inside and talked about everything from Transformers to how unnecessary the iPhone 6 is. There was so much laughing I couldn't feel my stomach or my mouth, but maybe that was because being with Louis is nothing but pure and joyful.
We're walking to the park now, his arm wrapped through my arm and me trying to find a place to sit. It's way past midnight and for some reason I'm okay with passing out on a random bench.
"Speaking of which..." I mutter sleepily to myself as we both sit down.
"Sit sit," Louis whines, "We can find the hotel tomorrow..."
I agree and sit down on the bench. Louis crowds his legs on my lap and wraps his arms tightly in his sides.
"This was so much better than the after party," he says, "Even though we're about to snooze on a park bench."
I snicker and wrap my arms around Louis' small body, not even letting the thought that I'm cuddling with Louis Tomlinson sink in.
