chapter forty-three
N.J.H.
We were stuck in the elevator for two hours. At first I couldn't stop crying, grieving, and hurting. The pain was sewing my mouth shut and ripping my heart open. When we got out, I was expecting to see my mother crying along with the rest of my family, but no one was even on the floor when we arrived.
"What..." I had whispered quietly, "Where is everyone?"
"They left," I was told by who I presume was the doctor, "Once your nan, um...passed, they all left to mourn."
"They left to mourn while I was stuck in the elevator?"
"Niall," Harry had pulled me aside and whispered in my ear, "I think we should fly back tonight."
"Huh?" I looked up at him angrily, shoving him slightly,
"Just why are you saying that?"
"Niall, you don't find it shady that your entire family left?"
I did find it shady, but a distant part of me didn't want to believe that my family was shutting me out. So I take Harry's hand and drag us down the stairs and back to the bus stop.
"What's the plan here?"
"We go back to the hotel, and we contact my mum tomorrow."
"Ni--"
I look at him pleadingly, not wanting to fight him, anything, or anyone right now. My heart hurts, a migraine is pounding my head, and all I want to do is cuddle with Harry until I forget the day's events. He nods soon enough, wrapping his arms around me as the bus pulls up by us. We step on, anticipating the four hour drive home.

When the hotel room door comes into view, I can barely walk; I'm so tired I forgot how to use my legs. Harry holds me up with his single arm and he opens the door.
"I may die," I mumble, taking off my shirt before untying the string on my joggers, loosening the clothing on my bod,
"I'm coming to bed in a second, want tea?"
"Yes please," I respond, yawning as I lay down on the mattress, emotionless. I'm sure my nan passed, but I just don't want to believe it. I know; mentally, I know she's gone, and I never got to say anything to her before she left my life for good.
"Niall?"
I turn my head, using only two of my muscles as I see Harry enter with two cups of hot tea. Seeing him suddenly sparks the motivation to get up and wipe away what I was feeling. He lays on the bed next to me, curling his arms around my lower back,
"Okay?"
"Mhm...will be."
I grip his shoulders and pull him down to meet my lips. His eyes flutter shut as his hands trace down my bare back, fingertips digging into my spine. A tug at his shirt leaves him taking it off and towering over me, leaning down and kissing my neck softly,
"You sure about this?"
I nod, sucking on his neck harder. I need to forget. He's the only thing that will make me forget. The feeling of him.
"Positive? Niall--"
"Harry! Yes."
He sighs longingly as he takes off my joggers and gets up off the bed, slipping off his own right after. His hand sinks into the suitcase and he takes out the lubricant,
