¦Chapter 5¦

+++

It had already been a month since (Y/n) settled in their new house. She was thankful that the moving truck arrived since she was finally able to sleep on her comfy bed and read the book her friend fussed so much about.

(Y/n) had thought that being the new kid in the city, it would be difficult for her to make friends, assuming that a lot of the kids in her class already knew each other beforehand. But she was wrong, it was surprisingly easy to make friends and she found out that Muichirou was in the class as her along with Yuichirou, who she got constantly mixed up with for a while until she was able to tell them apart (mainly because Yuichirou is meaner).

All in all, her life in the city wasn't so bad.

.........If only she could say the same thing about her relationship with Giyuu.

She (and Hiro) already grew close to Tsutako (even if Tsutako attended a boarding school, they are still close), but things with Giyuu weren't going well. There is the minor improvement where he'd greet then in the morning and offer to help, but aside from that none of (Y/n)'s attempts to get closer to man seemed to work.

Whatever she tried to do always ended up with being a failure and Hiro would always be there to "comfort" her, only making her feelings of guilt worse but he does make up for it by offering to buy her a drink or two, to which she'd never refuse.

So there she was, in her brother's room, on the floor even because she couldn't be bothered to walk the extra steps towards his bed he so graciously offered.

"Sulking isn't going to do anything (Y/n)," Hiro reminded, fixing his hair up in the mirror. "Besides, today's a school day. You'll get your uniform dirty if you stay on the floor."

"I know, I just don't know what to do!" she wailed. "What should I do at this point?"

"I don't know, give up?" He suggested. "It doesn't look like Giyuu plans on getting close to us anytime soon, we might as well give him what he wants."

"But—"

"But you can think of the rest later, classes start in half an hour," he said.

"For me at least," she sighed, "Unfair your classes don't last full day."

"You just need to become a senior student at least," he said, "then your schedule may open up."

"Carry me, dear brother," she requested. "or else I might become one with your bedroom floor."

"I'll wait for you in the car, dear sister," he told her sister, heading out the door, dismissing her sister's behavior. "10 minutes and I'm leaving with or without you."

Instead of getting up like her brother advised her to, (Y/n) pulled out her phone and started a stopwatch, seeing how long it'll take for her brother to come back, if he ever does.

One minute passed by, then two, then three, and now four.

She sighed as she ended the stopwatch and tucked the phone back into her pocket, it didn't look like he was coming back anytime soon.

She propped herself up from the floor, stopping by her room to pick up her bag as she headed outside, her eyes widening and her heart rate quickening when she heard the sound of the car engine being turned on.

She muttered curses about her brother as she dashed for the passenger seat (since Giyuu always rode in the back for reasons they don't know despite offering the passenger seat).

"You said 10 minutes!" She glared at her brother who was resting his head on the steering wheel using his arms as cushions, his fingers drumming at the sides of the steering wheel, smiling sweetly at his sister like he didn't just plan to desert her before 10 minutes were even up.

"I have no idea what you're talking," he said, pretending like he did nothing wrong as he started driving. "Me and Giyuu saw you outside and decided to start the car. Right, Giyuu?"

"I don't know. I wasn't paying attention," Giyuu answered briefly, choosing to merely turn his head to the window and pretend the blurred buildings they passed by were more interesting than this sibling quarrel.

And depending on how you looked at it, it was.

"By the way, I thought you were becoming one with my bedroom floor, what happened to that?" Hiro asked.

(Y/n) crossed her arms, turning to the window. "I didn't meet it's standards."

"Pity," he commented, "what're the requirements?"

"Something about needing to be an ass," she said. "I think it described the person as the type to leave others behind."

"What high standards my floor have." He sighed. "Too bad I'm not the type to leave others behind."

"Don't worry though!" (Y/n) smiled. "It said that it'll make an exception for you!"

"Really now?" He raised a brow.

"Yeah, the two of you have been together for practically a month now that it feels like you two are really close."

While the conversation about becoming one with Hiro's bedroom floor ensued, Giyuu wondered whether it was a good desicion to suddenly start paying attention to them, as the first things he heard when he stopped focusing on the outside was that their house was haunted and Hiro's bedroom floor is the main evil.

As their last subject teacher left the room, (Y/n) sure wasn't feeling happy at all. After all, most of their teachers either announced their was a quiz or a project and the projects weren't even the group types, so mostly relying on someone else was a no go.

"Too much for your brain to handle?"

"Shut up Yuichirou."

(Y/n) was irked. She swears, how could such a nice person have such a mean twin? It seems he specifically has it out for her and she has no idea what she even did. Then again, she didn't really like him either.

"You might want to look out the window," Yuichirou advised as (Y/n) rolled her eyes at him.

"And why should I listen to you?"

"I don't really care if you do it not," he shrugged, "you just might regret it though."

Begrudgingly, she stood up and walked towards the window.

"You just might regret it," she mimicked, looking out towards the window. "What could I possibly regr—"

What she saw before her had her facepalming in disbelief.

"This really is a small world."

She watched a crowd gather around her brother and Sanemi.
