Chapter 19

I turn around to see a white boy with shoulder length, messy hair. Wearing a green flannel on top of a red and black striped shirt with jeans. Next to him was an African American boy with a backwards baseball cap, a grey long sleeve shirt and camo pants. "Oh, I- I work here." I stutter, not liking this entire situation. Which at the moment consisted of an awful nickname one of them gave me and the fact that we are alone behind a building. "Is that so?" The boy in the grey shirt said to me as the white one stepped closer. "Do you happen to know who our good friend, Robby, is? He was supposed to meet us here." The white one, the one who called me sweetheart, asks me as I take a step back.

"Robby? Ye-yeah. I do." I tell him, still unsure as to who the hell they were. "Don't be scared, Mami. We can all just wait for Robby, together." The flannel wearing boy said to me, the new nickname more cringe then the last one. "Where the hell is he?" The darker skinned one looks around. "I don't know. I just came here for my phone." I said without stuttering, just wanting to get my phone and leave. "I'm right here." Robby walks over to us with a determined face before seeing me, his face softening a little bit. "Aviva? What are you doing here?" Robby asks obviously not expecting me. "Don't be sneaking up on me like that, man." The white one spoke again, this time to Robby.

"I left my phone here." I explain to him, and also the other two. "Yeah, Shawty was trying to get her phone. We came across her by the security pad lock. She don't know the code though, maybe you can help her." The one in the cap says to Robby. "I don't think I'm gonna g- get my phone after all. I'll see you tom– tomorrow, Roe." I say, the first part to no-one in particular. "Nuh, uh. Not so fast there, Sweetheart." The white one says, reusing the first nickname he gave me. "So, what's up bro? You got the code?" The black one asks Robby. "Yeah I got it, Trey." Robby says to the darker one apparently named 'Trey'. He looks from his friends and then to me.

"I told you my boy would come through, Cruz." Trey says, with a laugh, to the white boy, 'Cruz'. Cruz, on the other hand, looks displeased. "Mm." Cruz says staring at Robby, waiting for the what else Robby has to say. "Come through? C-can I just go? Please." I speak up, having a bad feeling about whatever is about to go down. "As much as I love hearing you beg. Shut your damn mouth." Cruz says, making my eyes go wide. "What are you waiting on? Let's do it. Where is the code?" Trey asks Robby as he looks at me, before glancing at the ground before up at the two guys. "I can't." Robby says causing Cruz to stiffen. His face gets serious as he leans forwards, eyes wide.

"Can't what? Remember the code? Maybe your girl, Aviva knows it after all." Cruz states before looking at me, causing me to walk towards Robby. Once I get close enough he pulls me behind him. "Sorry. I mean, I won't." Robby says as he looks back-and-forth between them before continuing. "I always get those two confused." "Robby. Robby, Robby..." Trey says as he walks up to us. He begins lightly smack the palm of his hand with the back of the other, each time he says Robby's name, before gesturing his hands outwards. "Come on man, don't do this." He pauses as he gestures to the door I was just talking to. "Just open the goddamn door." Trey says, raising his voice into a light yell. I grab Robby's arm as Cruz starts pacing. "It's not gonna happen." Robby states, feeling my hands shake as I get anxious, causing him to stiffen.

Trey chuckles as he turns to look at Cruz. "He's really gonna make me do this, huh?" Trey says to Cruz, who is swinging his arm back and forth. Robby pushes me back while Trey swings with his right arm, but Robby blocks Trey with his left arm. "Whoo!" Trey laughs while Cruz starts to hop around. "What, ninja boy teach you some karate or something?" Cruz asks as Trey punches with his right arm and Robby blocks with his left again before Trey then tries to jab with his left and in return Robby drops his arm down and blocks that too. Trey grabs Robby shirt and turns with him, Cruz comes up behind him and swings at Robby.
