"So, are you going to tell me something about this mysterious guy you are dating?""Well, I think I told you everything. Right?"
"But you didn't show me a picture or anything."
I was looking to the clothes hanging off the rack on that little vintage store. Emma convinced me to go shopping. I wasn't a really big fan of fashion, I mean, I tried to dress the best I could but I always had a hard time trying to find clothes that fit me or that I like. When I saw someone with amazing style, I always felt that I wanted to dress like that but a part of me thought it wouldn't suit me. Emma was the opposite of me. She was always following the new trends, looking like she came out of a magazine or an ad.
I met Emma in my first days in the city. NYU assigned her as my guide and we have our offices next to each other. She taught art history from the 1400 century until the 1600 century. And she was very good at her job but she was very curious about other people life. Sam had told that one day we had lunch together. He was the professor that all my students wanted me to end with. He was nice and very handsome but we didn't have that kind of chemistry that couples had. We loved the same music, the same shows... but he was a permanent staff in NYU. So he always told me secrets and advice to be able to get a better position. Some other staff members told me that Emma really liked him but Sam has never had a couple since he was teaching there.
"Well... you know..."
"You don't have to worry, I know you have bad taste..."
"Excuse me?!"
"You know... Sam asked you out and you say no..."
"We are friends."
"Yeah... I know... So, are you gonna tell me how this amazing boy looks like?"
"He is tall and very handsome, but he is older than me."
"How old?"
"Like 13 years older..."
"So he is already in his forties... Well, if you like him."
In that moment my phone rung. It was a message from Chris. He arrived to his home and he sent me some pics of his lovely place. That house looked a lot more like Chris. More comfy, more warm and more like a home. It has a yard. A place to have a family. I couldn't help myself but smile thinking how much effort Chris should have put in making that place his home. "Love it, it looks so pretty. Are you okay?" As soon as the message was sent, my phone rung. A called from Chris. I made a sign to Emma, telling her I was going outside to take it. She nodded while looking at a new rack. Once I was outside, I answered the call.
"Hello!"
"Hello. Did I bother you?"
"No, actually you just save me from a friend. How was the trip?"
"Pretty tired... I would prefer to stay in NYC... But my parents would have killed me if I wasn't here... It's been a long time since the last time they saw his kid in person. And they have a few question about an interview" he laughed.
"I hope you come back here in one piece."
"I will try my best" I could heard him breathing, but he didn't continue talking.
"Your place look amazing."
"Thank you but it still needs some help...."
"Well, I can always go with you shopping."
"That would be nice."
"Scott, what the heck are you doing? Leave my phone!"
I could heard him fighting with his brother and I couldn't stop laughing. I heard some screaming and a knock. I was starting to be afraid about what was happening in that house.
"Hello, it's me Scott! I hope I can meet you soon! Cute picture together by the way!"
"Scott! Shut up! I'm gonna kill you!" I could notice my face turning red and burning. "Hey, Julia? Are you still there?"
"Yes, Chris... I'm here."
"I'm sorry about that my brother is very... special."
"Don't worry... It was quite an experience."
"And he isn't the worst...."
"You have quite a weekend ahead of you" I laughed.
"I won't be bored... What are you doing?"
"I'm shopping with Emma, my colleague."
"Did you find something you like?"
"Not for now."
"I hope you can show me if you find something you like... I'm sure you will look beautiful with anything."
"You are too sweet but Emma is not the best company to go shopping."
"Next time we can go together, I need some clothes. If you want of course..."
"I will really like that! I don't have a nice coat for winter."
"Then it's a date!" I could heard some noises in the other side of the phone. "I have to hang, my family is already here."
"Yeah, sure! We can text or chat in another time."
"You bet!"
"Goodbye, Chris..."
"Bye, Julia. I miss you already."
"I miss you too."

Chris's POV
I looked at the phone with a silly smile and I could notice Scott eyes in my neck. I turned around and saw him with a glass and an evil smile. I throw him a pillow and looked at my phone. Julia had sent me a selfie, I sent her another of me and Scott at the back looking at me. "He is spying on me."
"You have a big crush on this girl" Scott said while sitting by my side.
"She is something else."
"Be careful... I don't want to see you heartbroken again."
"Are you worried about me?"
"She is younger than you... maybe she wants different things."
"Maybe... for now we are just have dates."
"You don't say I miss you to someone you just met."
"Shut up!" I trow another pillow to him.
"Okay, I would be nice when dad and mom ask you about her..."
"Are they mad?"
"No, just surprise...."
"I was surprise too to see that pic in the interview... We were very careful..."
"I know... But paparazzi are the worst, you know." I nodded with my head and he took another sip. Then he looked at me straight in the eyes. "Do you think she will be the one?"
"Maybe... I really like being with her...."
