Raina's throat turned dry, she didn't know how she would face the woman. She heard her heels clash against the wooden floor as Aryan scratched the back of his head nervously. The woman turned around the woman, and stopped in her tracks. She was awestruck, she saw something she had never ever expected to see in a million years again, Raina and Aryan together.

"Maa-",Aryan whispered slowly but Seema raised her hand to indicate him to stop talking. With suspicious eyes she marched up to Raina. She looked Raina in the eye, cupped her face and smiled, "Beta, its been so long. We have all missed you so much, so so much." Raina forced a smile, while Seema assessed her ever feature, feeling her in as if she had been looking for her for so long. The affection in her eyes was so visible, Raina had a love hate relationship with that affection. It was that love for her that Raina was thrown into a marriage with Aryan but again it was that love which helped her to persevere through every tough time.

After what felt like an eternity for Raina, Seema let go of her face and turned towards Aryan ," But what is happening? Care to explain, dear son?"

"I should get going Aunty, I'm getting late.", Raina turned and left the room hastily before Seema could say anything to stop her. She faced Aryan and gestured him to answer her.

"Um Maa, I met Raina here in Connecticut a few days back. You know how I have been searching for her so I asked her to give me a chance."

"And she agreed?"

"Of her own accord?"

He fidgeted and she understood that something was wrong.

"Look, beta, if she wants to do this of her own accord then it's well and fine but if you are coercing her into this, things will never work out between the two of you. She would never really love you and you would pine after her, with nothing in return. Things like these happen organically, you cannot force them onto someone especially when they have been scarred by you. I don't know the extent of the problems you guys had during the course of your marriage but I do know the Raina that left was unhappy. Don't do this to her for your selfish reasons. It won't do either of you any good."

" I understand Maa, I know after this she probably won't come back to me, all I need is some pleasant memories with her. I know I am being selfish, i know i was heartless before, I hurt her beyond measure. I just want to paint over those memories with new ones, I know it would be difficult."

Seema eyed her son suspiciously, she wanted to believe what he was saying, yet all her memories were stating otherwise. She just sighed and motioned her son to show her the bathroom.

Raina had just reached her hotel, she would be leaving Connecticut the next day. Aryan probably knew that she would be leaving, and even if he didn't she didn't want to tell him. She just wanted this ordeal to get over with, every time she turned to look at him, she felt weak, she felt herself breaking down piece by piece every time she made any contact with him. She was putting all her clothes in her bag one by one when her phone rang.

"So, when are you leaving Connecticut?", Aryan asked.

"Umm, don't worry about that. We are going back in Joey's car."

"How about I drop you off? It will be a road trip."

"First, no thanks. Second, it's a one hour commute and that hardly qualifies as a road trip."

"Not as a road trip, just hanging out."

"Drop the act, Aryan! When I said i would be fine, i will be fine." 

Raina hung up the phone, it was infuriating to even listen to his voice at times. She took out her suitcase and furiously began to stuff all her belongings inside. Someone knocked at the door, it was Joey.

"oh hey! Come in, i was just packing."

"Yeah, I can see that clearly."

"So, you ready to leave for NYC?"

"Yeah. If you don't mind me asking, is everything fine between-"

"About that, he asked me to go out with him."

"And you said no right?"

"No, i said yes."

Hey! So yeah this a pretty short chapter but better things are coming up so stay tuned. I was out of ideas and everything plus I'm occupied with a lot of things at the moment. 

The next chapter will be out soon as I'm half done with writing it.
