"wake up, wake up!"
annalise was abruptly shaken from sleep. under her cocoon of blankets, she groggily opened an eye. someone was roughly trying to pull her off the bed by her left leg, and annalise wasn't having it. she hissed, still half asleep, pulling her leg back into the warmth and comfort her blankets provided her with. what the hell, wasn't it a saturday?
"get up annalise, today is your birthday!!"
annalise rolled over, squishing her face into her pillow. she tried to block the annoying voice by burrowing deeper into her bedding, but the voice seemed to be inside her head. she hissed again.
"go away, celine," she groaned. she didn't appreciate her younger sister waking her up. she'd much rather sleep. it didn't help that she'd stayed up way too late texting calum.
a hand rolled her over onto her back. annalise opened an eye to reveal a piece of bacon being shaken before her face.
"you can only get it if you get up," someone said with a grin.
ashton. how the hell did he get in her room?!
annalise slowly sat up and glared at the older boy. she silently wondered if he'd been standing next to her bed for a while. she tried to flatten her hair at the thought, but then remembered her hair was a ratty bird's net and no amount of flattening could tame it. "what are you doing in here?"
ashton giggled. "waking you up, dumb butt."
"don't call me that," she scowled, but she was laughing. "how'd you get in here?"
ashton pointed to the window. annalise rolled her eyes. he really needed to stop sneaking into her bedroom, otherwise her brother would get the wrong idea. she felt like puking at the idea.
"happy birthday, by the way," ashton smiled, bending down to kiss annalise's cheek. annalise suppressed a grimmace and crawled away from the loving arms of her bed. she'd have to take a nap later.
"give me the bacon now," she demanded. celine dashed out of the room, laughing mischievously. annalise followed suit, ashton sighing and stepping in toe behind her.

luke<3: happy birthday annie! :)
annalise was halfway through eating a waffle when she received luke's text.
she swallowed the remaining bite of waffle left on her plate in an ocean of syrup, and set her phone back down. really wanted to talk to luke, she really did. but she felt like something was off between them. it had gotten awkward. annalise did not like awkward. she wanted to ask what was wrong, but couldn't. she felt like she was being blind sighted.
she tried to tell herself the reason he wasn't talking to her was because of his hand, but deep down she knew she was only trying to be positive. she pushed thoughts of what if's out of her head. there was a reason he wasn't acting normally. there had to be.
"aren't you going to text your boyfriend back?" celine asked, her mouth full of cocoa puffs. she'd been watching her sister intently as annalise debated internally whether or not she should text luke back. ashton raised his head from the other side of the kitchen table to look at both of them curiously.
