annalise: ashton no!
"who are you texting?" luke asked, leaning forward on the park bench to look at annalise's phone. she quickly jerked it away, smiling sheepishly. luke just took another bite of his soft pretzel, quirking an eyebrow.
"ashton's coming," annalise said softly. she didn't exactly want the two of them meeting, but it seemed as if she had no choice.
"oh, my friends calum and mikey are actually at my aunt's," luke said. annalise raised her eyebrows. she hadn't realized he'd brought them with him.
"they could come alone if they wanted to," annalise suggested. ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS LESS AWKWARD.
"okay," he said.
"okay."
"did you just..."
annalise giggled. luke just smiled, poking her nose. annalise blinked. a blush crept up to her cheeks.
"what was that for?" she asked stupidly.
luke just shrugged, smiling shyly. "you're cute."
HOLY HELL. annalise turned her head so he couldn't see her fist pump. THE luke hemmings just called her cute? best. day. ever.

"so what's it like to live in a river?" luke asked with a smirk.
"oh, you know, pretty slimy. but we get great reception underwater," annalise responded with a laugh. she liked this. she liked him.
luke laughed with her. "i like you."
annalise froze. "i can't," she said.
luke furrowed his eyebrows. "why not?"
he knew why not. and so did annalise. he never had given her an answer.
"what happened?" she finally decided to ask.
luke puffed his cheeks out. "annalise..."
"no, please," she interrupted, looking at him with a frown.
luke pulled out his phone. "funny, isn't it, that i conveniently dropped my phone in the toilet, isn't it?"
annalise looked to him for answers. "i'll tell you later," he said. "i think your boyfriend's here."
annalise was about to interrupt and say she didn't have a boyfriend, when she saw ashton walking towards them and she shut her mouth.
