luke never felt like he fit in. he might have had big hair and high hopes, but he always found himself feeling left out. with people forgetting him mid-conversation, and his teachers forgetting he was even in their classes, it made him think that maybe nobody really liked him. it seemed like he was always awkwardly watching other people live their lives as he awkwardly tried living his. it was almost as if he just blended right into the background.

he discovered shortly after this realization that maybe the reason for this kind of treatment was because he really did belong in the background. he didn't know how they managed to not notice a boy the size of a small tree, but he speculated that it was probably possible. maybe they were forgetting him on purpose.

"the invisible people stay invisible," he'd been told at lunch today by his former friend jemma. former, because they didn't really act like friends anymore. jemma didn't really like him anymore. "there's no way up the food chain."

luke had been mulling this piece of information around in his head ever since. he felt that this was unfair. but, like jemma said, there's no way to change anything. he'd just have to stay transparent for the remainder of his life.

with this in mind, luke plopped onto his bed half-heartedly. if there was no way to change, what was the point?

luke propped his laptop open. he clicked into his facebook. he wasn't quite sure if anyone even used facebook anymore. apparently it was outdated, but luke didn't mind. he kind of liked it. it reminded him of himself.

after commenting on a few pictures and liking a couple others, the computer chimed.

"you've got mail," the male voice said, signaling that luke had, indeed, mail.

turning his attention to email versus outdated facebook, luke hummed a slight tune to himself. today hadn't been that bad. besides having all hope squashed by the likes of jemma, today was okay.

"new message from raining.tacos."

luke looked at the email notification. it was from...myspace? did that even exist anymore? he hadn't used myspace in years. to be honest, he'd kind of forgotten it was still a thing.

but obviously it was, since he had gotten a message from someone.

luke cautiously opened his untouched myspace account. he had no idea what kind of stuff would be hidden in there. (most likely a dead body or something)

he found a message from raining.tacos awaiting him in his inbox.

raining.tacos: hey, um this is weird but hi. (i'm not stalking you i swear)

luke smiled slightly to himself. it wasn't very often he had people talk to him just out of the blue. in fact, nobody really talked to him ever. perks of being unnoticed by everyone, he assumed. but he kind of liked the feeling of being noticed and talked to. he quickly replied back.

penguinboy: nah that's fine, as long as you're not a pedophile, i'm cool with it lol. i'm luke btw :)

the person replied back almost instantly.
