Sorry this chapter's short I just have more stuff planned in Caitlyn's POV and I hate switching POVs in the middle of a chapter so sorry

Zach's POV
"To Kill a Mockingbird" Dr. McAdams says "someone want to tell me the plot of that book?"
Of course nobody raises their hand because nobody cares about a book about some stupid bird. Dr. McAdams sighs loudly and throws the book onto the table "come on people, this is Literature!" He yells "Zachary, what's the plot?"
Dr. McAdams always has it out for the athletes so I'm not surprised that he chose me when the rest of the class didn't raise their hands either. "Some guy trying to kill a bird" I guess
"Good guess, your fellow nescient jocks commend you."
Nescient?
"Miss Cormier, would you mind telling Mr. Mitchell here the plot of To Kill a Mockingbird"
"Uhm, To Kill a Mockingbird is basically about kids who are living during the Great Depression and they become fascinated with some creepy house and the story behind it and their father must defend a colored person during a time of racism." She says
"Nice work Miss Cormier I see some of you jocks have time to catch a ball and read a book" Dr. McAdams says
"Yeah nice work Weezy" Henry Cavinal says and makes heavy breathing noises.
"Yo cool it kid" Sean snaps
"Or what" Henry provokes him
"Or we might just have to talk about that alcoholic mom of your's" I say. The class o's and Henry slouches in his seat, Dr. McAdams quiets the class and rambles on about the book and how we have two weeks to read and write a report on it.
"Class dismissed" Dr. McAdams finally says.
Sean and I start walking to second period Spanish when Temporary comes up to us "hey thanks for that back there" she says
"Henry's an ass anyways, I'll take any excuse to put him in his place" Sean says
"Besides your our friend, right?" I say.
She looks at me for a moment and I can almost see the images of us in the car yesterday flash in front of her eyes. She nods slowly then turns to walk in the other direction.
"Homecoming Saturday dude, you know who you're going to ask?" Sean asks"
"Nah dude, you?"
"I think I'm going to ask Jenna, you know Caitlyn's friend" Sean says "speaking of Caitlyn, you should ask her."
"The chance of her saying yes is slim to none" I sigh
"I wouldn't say that dude, with all that's happened in the past week you know it means something that she's still around."
Sean does have a point though. I told him about the whole Caitlyn fake girlfriend thing and he was just pretty upset that it wasn't for real, he said he was team Zaitlyn not team Zamanda.
"Vote Amanda for Homecoming Queen!" One of Amanda's stalkers yell. Posters are pressed up against every wall in the hallway. I'm on the ballad for Homecoming King but I'm praying I don't win, Amanda's a shoe in for Queen so if I win I'll have to dance with her and sit with her.
"Hey Zach, are you voting for me?" Amanda appears
"When pigs fly." I nod
She laughs "the world is evolving." Amanda makes me want to run over myself, multiple times.
"If you ladies wouldn't mind, I would love to start my practice" coach yells "Homecoming game this Saturday, not only do I want to win I want to win by a landslide"
"Offensive line!" Coach says "QB, Zach"
"FB Nathan Stone, HB JJ Skulnik, Wide R's Sean Richards and Caitlyn Cormier, Guards Charles, Kaiden, Roshan, and Michael." Coach announces "the rest will be on the bench for the game, got it? Good."
"Coach that's bullshit you know I'm the best wide receiver on the team" Blake yells
"Who would've known with all the balls you've dropped during practice" Caitlyn says. She knows he wants to replace her but she also knows she's better than him. "Maybe if you got your head out from between Amanda's legs you could've practiced and actually played."
The team laughs and Blake strides toward Temporary as if he's going to hit her. Before he can get to her I stand between them as her human shield.
"Alright enough playing around" Coach says "Sears you're not the starting eleven."
Blake turns back to me and shoves his finger into my chest "you better tell your little girlfriend to watch it, because I'm not afraid to hit a girl."
"I'd like to see you try"
"Trust me, I will."
I roll my eyes as he sulks all the way over to the bench.
"Thanks, but I don't need you to save me" she says and walks away.
I guess I deserved that.
Sean decides to ask Jenna to homecoming at lunch the next day. "Jenna" Sean says
Her head shoots up and she smiles when she sees Sean "yeah?"
"Want to go to homecoming with me?" He says
Real romantic
Her face goes a deep red causing the table to laugh and she nods really fast and leans into Sean. Now if I could just get Temporary to go with me. Her attention is directed to her happy friend and I wouldn't want to ask her right now and steal the moment away from Jenna, or get publicly humiliated when she says no.
How did it come to this? I've known this girl for ten days and I hated her in the beginning. Within the span of ten days I've developed feelings for her.
When lunch is dismissed I linger around waiting for Temporary who is talking to Jenna about the Homecoming proposal.
When Jenna finally walks away i approach Temporary.
"Uhm hey Zach" she says
"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go to Homecoming with me?"
Her face flushes and she grasps her arm "I'm sorry Nathan already asked me"
"Nathan Stone?" I ask
"Yeah" she nods and scurries away.
I groan loudly, drawing the attention of some lunch ladies before storming out of the cafeteria.
"Can you believe that dude?" I rant
"It's your fault" JJ says
"What?"
"You waited too long" he says "I mean homecoming is on Saturday, it's Wednesday."
I stare at him then throw my hands in the air "where's Sean! You're obviously no help!"
"Chill dude"
"Now I need to find a date by Saturday"
"Dude you do realize you could put out a status and a hundred people would reply" he says
"Nah I'd rather not, I have to find someone though" I say and take out my phone. I go through my facebook friends and land on Melissa Ross, a senior I've seen around. She's hot and I remember seeing her Homecoming Queen posters up in school so if I win and she wins it'll kill Amanda.
I send Melissa a message asking her if she wants to go and she immediately answers yes.
"I'm going with Melissa"
"Ross?" JJ says
"Yeah"
"Dude she's a slut, she slept with half the hockey team."
I roll my eyes "who told you that?"
"She did."
