Caitlyn's POV
All these dresses make me want to vomit, they're mostly pink and sparkly or pink with feathers all over it.
By the look on Jenna's face I assume she's thinking the same thing "where are all the black dresses!" She groans
Jenna thinks nothing but black goes well with her red hair. We keep looking but eventually give up and go to the food court for some pizza and ice cream.
"So did you tell Zach what color dress you're wearing?" Jenna asks
"I'm not going with Zach, I'm going with Nathan"
"Nathan?" She basically chokes on her pepperoni "Nathan Stone?"
"Yeah, he asked me and I said yes"
"You and Zach are like perfect together, why on ear-"
"Hold it" I say "the first week I started at this school Zach hated my guts so much he made it a point to nickname me Temporary, and he still calls me that!"
"He likes you, and you like him too" she sighs and digs her spoon into her ice cream.
I roll my eyes but I can't help but think she's right, I mean every time Zach talks I get this weird feeling, my chest still hurts from the dinner at his house, and I can't help but wish he was around when he's not. The thing is though every time he does talk to me I put some kind of force field around me like I'm being attacked or something.
I don't even know why I'm going to this stupid dance anyways. I just reached two thousand dollars in my life savings account and I still have to pay for water and food for my grandma which is about $750 a month so I really don't have time to be spending two hundred dollars, minimum, on a dress I'll be wearing for one night.
That's when I have an idea.
"Is their a fabric store here?" I ask Jenna
"Yeah Fabric Barn, why?"
"Just come with me" I say and we desert our half eaten pizza and cookie dough ice cream.
She shows me the store and I immediately know my plan is going to work. I tell Jenna my plan on how we should get fabric and ask someone in the sewing club to make us a dress for like forty bucks. She agrees and we start searching through the fabrics. I find a white smooth fabric and some white lace and Jenna finds a ton of silky black fabric. We check out and the cost comes out to thirty seven dollars. Now you see, if I had bought a dress that would be two hundred dollars wasted but since I'm having one made for forty dollars and I buy the fabric that's only seventy dollars spent. Great math skills right.
We go to Jenna's house and I have Jenna draw up a sketch of what I want my dress to look like. It will cover my feet and it will be long sleeved, that's pretty much all I can say about my dress without completely butchering dress terminology.
I won't be able to wear the dress until the actual dance since I'll be playing football during the game. Jenna tells me what to do and where to go right after the game, she wants me to meet her at her car and she'll drive us to her house; and then she'll "make me look better" is how she puts it, which basically means hair and makeup. Nothing like putting an iron to your dirty hair and makeup to your sweaty face after a football game.
She wants me to go and meet with her, Sean and the team at Zach's house before the dance because she wants to take fricking pictures, like geez I forgot it was prom.
"Did I tell you Roshan Green asked Reagan?" Jenna says
"No, that's good for her" I smile. Reagan never really talks she always keeps to herself, and now that I think about it so does Roshan I should have thought of that earlier.
