"It doesn't bother me," you say,
Can you be certain?
Wasn't it something sworn to secrecy between the two of you?
"I'm happy," you say,
Is it your heart or mind who spoke it?
Will saying that help you through another day?
"I'm fine," you say,
Will they leave you alone with that answer?
"It's alright," you reply every day,
In reality, it was worse than the day before.
"It's no big deal," you say,
But inside you're seething.
"Does anyone care?" you ask,
But how can either of you begin to discern the truth when all that's been said is lies?
