I know what my habits will bring upon me,
In death, I know where I'll be.
Do not interfere with my life and tell me what's best,
I'll go ahead and get this off of my chest.
This grand life and is too short for fear,
and all we fear is the unknown.I wish to experience what this life has to give,
I want to thrive, not just live.
One day, dear Death will make a stand,
Be near to hold my hand.
For, I lived a great life but doomed myself the same,
Only my reckless ways are to blame.
What more could I get with my time?
More tears, more joy, more pain,
Another last dance in the rain?
I loved this life, it went well,
Even if I'm damned to Hell.
My soul has lived for many years,
But I've gotten rid of all my fears.
Skin of ivory, lips pale blue,
Now is my time to leave you.
I see you lean against my tomb,
Tears on your face, eyes of the moon.
You turned from my death suite,
And Oh! what a sight your eyes meet,
I stand behind a looming figure,
Cloaked in black, I see you shiver,
I honestly hope to never see you again,
For, where I am, we cannot be friends.
Go the other way, and be happy forever,
But in my heart, you'll always have shelter.
Death winks me out of sight,
Just as the stars with morning light.
Eventually my name will mean no more,
Than the day some stranger opened a door.
I may not live with you in flesh,
But I'm here in the trees, the air, and the rest.
Do not fear your time to die,
You've seen Death, as have I.
