I am happy while you are away,
Without pause, I can get through my day.
You bring new life, happiness, and cheer,
Thank goodness you come only once a year.
Everything is turned a dusty gold,
No longer are the days cold.
I cough and sputter when you're around,
Your timing revealed by a hog of the ground.
For people like me, you are a pain,
More light, less sleep, not really a gain.
People love you, I cannot see why,
When you come around, I just want to cry.
It's not you, it's me,
Unfortunately my sinuses say we're not to be.
I'll stay inside while you bring joy,
Please just leave, I'm not being coy.
Others are made happy by you,
Just continue to do what you do.
My hatred is just a minor thing,
For you, the one and only Spring.
