Song of the book - Mr Loverman by Ricky Montgomery

                                *Five years old*

You jump off of the kitchen chair and land on the floor, your hands in fists on your hips. "Done Mommy! I finished it all like you told me!" You shout with a huge grin.

She gives you a sweet smile and wipes some sauce from your chin. "Y/N, are you sure you want to become a ninja? Daddy passed away doing exactly that." Her soft and gentle tone flows to your ears, flattering your soul and making you happy.

You keep the same smile and nod your head quickly, causing your hair to fly around. "One hundred percent! I'm going to make him proud, trust me."

She brings her soft hand to your cheek and allows you to lean your head into her warm touch, melting against her. "Alright, put your shoes on and we'll head over."

And you do just that. You put on your new ninja sandals she bought for you last week. Today's your first day at the academy, and you couldn't be more excited. You've been waiting for this moment for as long as you can remember.

But now you're standing outside of the classroom with white eyes and a flushed face. The excitement is no longer inside your body. Instead, you're absolutely horrified. Your blood is cold as it rushes through your small body, staring at the sliding door.

Suddenly, a boy sprints past you and jams the door open, jumping into the classroom with his hands on his hips. "I'm here! And I'm not even late!" He announces.

You take this as your chance and decide to walk into the class, fidgeting with your fingers and staring down at your feet.

"Alright, you may take your seat." A man says, speaking to the boy although you take it as a statement to you as well. You look up, seeing quite a few children who already have a few friends, and frown.

It's not like you don't have any friends- well actually, that's exactly it. But you don't feel the need to have friends. You spend most days with your mom and brother, who are your best friends.
