"What are you doing?" I ask when I open the door to a raging Julie.

"Go away!" She yells. "Why don't you go sleep in the studio just like you always used to! I'm sure Luke's going to be thrilled to see you!"

"No, he won't be," I shake my head. "Julie, I'm done."

"What?" She stops mid throw of a pillow.

"I'm done. I'm not putting up with Luke anymore," I say, shutting the door behind me. "He came between us and I can't have that. Not again."

"You just gave up on him?" Julie asks, dropping the pillow on the ground.

"Yeah," I nod. "Yeah, I guess I did."

"But he likes you," she says.

"So?" I shrug. "He's dead."

"Right," Julie sits down on the edge of the bed. "But you really just dropped him for me, though?"

"Yes, Julie," I say, walking over to her and sitting down. "You're my sister."

"I haven't been acting very sisterly," she confesses. "I'm sorry, Lia."

"I'm sorry too," I apologize. "I should've been there for you through everything."

"I pushed you away," Julie says, fiddling with her hands. "It's my fault."

I grab her hands and hold them in my own. "I love you."

"I love you too," she says. She pulls me into a hug and a breath of relief exits me. When we finally let go, it feels like its only been 15 seconds. "Well, been awhile since we've really hugged, huh?"

"Yeah," I laugh. "I missed it."

"I don't wanna lose you now," she sings quietly.

I stick my tongue in my cheek before continuing roughly, "I'm looking right at the other half of me."

"Show me how to fight for now," she sings.

"And I tell you, Julie," I point at her when I change the words. "It was easy coming back to you once I figured it out."

"You were right here all along."

"It's like you're my mirror," I sing.

"Oho," Julie laughs.

I laugh with her and take a deep breath, "Dork."

"Disappointment," she retorts.

"Underachiever," I smirk.

I've missed Julie more than I like to admit. But finally, I feel relieved. The bipolar attitude seems to have finally subsided. And now I just have my Julie back.

My eyes barely open by the time Julie wakes me up. I yawn and rub them, trying to get them to cooperate.

"Dad's gonna kill us if we don't get downstairs soon," she warns, throwing clothes at me.

"Are we late or something?" I ask, taking them.

"We're about to be," she shakes her head. "And I told him school first. I promised."

"Okay," I say. "Let's hurry up then."

"Good morning," I smile, as Dahlia walks toward me.

"Good morning," she replies, grabbing my hand and pulling my arm over her shoulders. I feel my heartbeat pause, not an unusual occurrence whenever I'm around Dahlia.

I give her a questioning look, "This is new."

"New can be good," she says, quickly focusing her eyes to the ground. She looks so nervous, like what she did was too risky to be a good thing.

I mentally slap myself. Idiot. Why wouldn't you just say, "I like this." or something smooth?

"Yes," I pull her closer to me as we walk down the hallway, trying to make up for my moment of emotional unintelligence. "Yes, it can be."

I see her flash a smile, reassured. My heart flutters.

"What are you doing tonight?" She asks, looking up at me

"What are you doing tonight?" She asks, looking up at me.

"I have lacrosse practice after school, but then nothing," I answer. "Why? What did you have in mind?"

"It's been way too long since I've had a burger from In and Out and a drive with some good music," she fakes a pout.

"Well," I click my tongue. "I think we are going to have to change that."

"What time is practice over?" Dahlia asks, her lips turning up at the corners.

"I'll pick you up at 6," I say. I lean down and kiss the top of her head. "Have fun in Chem."

"I won't," she rolls her eyes.

I chuckle before walking to my own class.

I can't help but make a celebratory fist. Not that I'm about to throw it into the air like he does at the end of The Breakfast Club, but I definitely feel like I could.

I've got a date with Dahlia Molina. Finally.

A.N.

Oh hi, didn't see you there.

Anywho, I finally got caught up on all my homework (I think... I do still have to make Swedish pancakes and butter cookies for my International Foods class, but that's easy) and I got a chance to finally write that prelude for the Reggie fic I was talking about. (Lmk if you want me to publish that even tho I won't be uploading chapters until this story is over)

Thanks for being so patient y'all!🥰
