Author's notes: Liz is the heart of the group. She is the most innocent, the character with the most redeemable qualities. She is one of two volunteers but earned the title because she is the only one of the crew that truly wants to contribute to science and the world by going on the mission. Liz feels that if she can't be there for anyone, she may as well do something that will profit everyone.
She puts everyone's needs before her own, even if she doesn't know them. This has allowed people to take advantage of her in the past. She's smart, but she cares too much about strangers and what they think of her to be successful. Nobody tells her what her problem is, so she can't learn from these mistakes. Liz is terrified of losing everything and everyone, because she has before, but projects a cheerful, bubbly exterior to hide it. I believe that someday she'll meet someone who truly cares about her, and will finally learn to put herself first.
