Based on a roleplay Fanfiction1090 and I did! Enjoy! TW: There's a fight scene between the nerds and the dragon, a knife and sword, brief mentions of pistols, and a short hospital scene

Ford sipped on his coffee as he waited for Dipper to wake up. The boy had overslept a bit, but he didn't mind too much. Though, it would take the two a couple hours to get out there. Where is "there" you may wonder? There is to the west edge of Gravity Falls. Located at that location were multiple caves, one rumored to belong to an exlusive golden dragon.

Dipper came stumbling down the stairs, "Sorry, I overslept!" He exclaimed. Ford gave him a neutral expression before smiling and waving him off.

"It's alright, my boy. I was wondering when you'd get up," he chuckled, before turning more serious, "Alright! Today is the day we track down the elusive golden dragon!" Dipper's eyes widened as soon as he said this, "It's likely a hostile creature, as most dragons are, but studying it will be worth it!"

"A dragon!? That's amazing!" Dipper exclaimed. Hearing it was dangerous was the cause of Dipper to run back upstairs to grab his knife. Along with a light snack of course. "I'm ready! You might want to bring one of Grunkle Stan's pistols with you. I'm sure he wouldn't mind too much, seeing as he's currently in Vegas doing... uh... something..."

Ford shook his head, "No need. This is a dragon after all. I was thinking something a bit more... traditional..." he smirked, taking a shortsword out of its scabbard.

"Woah!!" Dipper exclaimed, "Can... can I have a sword?"

Ford placed the sword back in its scabbard, "I don't know my boy..." he trailed off, "It takes time to learn how to use one."

Dipper was slightly disappointed but shrugged this off rather quickly. He grabbed their shared journal so they could take notes if needed. "Alright then, let's go!"

Ford lead Dipper through the forest of Gravity Falls. According to the map, they should be arriving soon. Although, these caves were only speculated. There's been some dragon sightings, but most were passed off as airplanes or large birds. Though, nothing was as it seems in Gravity Falls.

After a good one-two hour trek, the two arrived at a hill with hundreds of caves carved into the sides. Dipper looked at them in awe, "So... which one is the dragon?"

Ford was silent, "I'm not sure. I guess we'll just have to check every one. From what I can tell, the caves don't run too deep."

After another few hours they finally found fhe golden dragon. It was sleeping on a pile of gold, but looking behind it revealed an even greater treasure. A dragon egg. If they managed to steal the egg, they could possibly domesticate it.

Ford tried to sneak past it, however the snap of a stray twig alerted the beast of intruders.

The dragon launched towards the two, swiping it's claws. The motion caused Dipper to be swept out of the cave almost as if it was a strong breeze.

By the time Dipper reentered, he was met with a neck and neck battle between the dragon and Ford. Both of them had new scars on their bodies, likely from the current fight. Dipper was about to attack the dragon from a surprise angle, but the dragon spotted him first. The beast held Dipper down with one claw. It was about the swing with the other one. Dipper closed his eyes and waited for the painful scratch to come.

But it never did. When Dipper looked up Ford was in his spot. The dragon had hit Ford's back, making his eyes go wide with pain. The man's sword was knocked onto the other side of the cave and blood started to seep through his trench coat.

While the dragon was distracted with Ford, Dipper figured he would easily be able to finish off the dragon, seeing as Ford already damaged it so much. Dipper ran away to where Ford's sword was dropped. Although he had no idea how to use it, he did his best with the weapon, and after a few more hits, the dragon collapsed.

Ford grabbed the dragon's egg and ran out of the cave making sure Dipper was behind him. Ford smiled, "This is excellent my boy! We'll be able to study a dragonet up close!" He exclaimed.

Dipper gave a half smile, "Th-that's great Grunkle Ford. B-but, you're still bleeding. Maybe you should go to the hospital!"

Ford waved him off, "I'll be fine, my boy. You don't need to worry about me. Besides, we have to get this egg home,"

Dipper gave Ford a look, "Grunkle Ford, you're bleeding!"

"It's just a bit of blood,"

"It's soaking through your coat!" The boy explained. Ford took off his coat and starred at the blood stain on the back.

Ford sighed, "Alright, we'll go to the hospital. But I swear, I'm fine!"

Of course, Ford wasn't as fine as he said. He had to stay in the hospital for a few days. Dipper visited every day and took on the responsibility of taking care of the dragon's egg.

When Ford arrived home, he was delighted to see the egg was close to hatching. It was only about a day later Ford was able to show off the small drgonet perched onto his shoulder.

Dipper smiled at the small creature. Hunting down that dragon was definitely worth it.
