LINA COULDN'T SLEEP. HER EYES GLANCED AT THE OLD GRAND FATHER CLOCK in the corner of Emma and Olive's room, and now hers. 3:26 AM. Lina laid on top of the covers of the small pallet she made on the floor. Olive and Emma offered to share beds but Lina refused, she didn't want to take their beds they'd had for years, it was wrong.

Quietly, Lina decided to get up and get some air outside of the room. It wasn't that Emma or Olive weren't welcoming enough, they were the best room hosts that Lina ever knew. She simply couldn't sleep, and felt as if something was off.

She tiptoed in her nightgown down the hall and up the staircase. Her eyes squinted as she saw a small light coming from the end of the hall at the top of the stairs. Against her better judgement, she decided to go check it out. Making sure she made no noise, she walked up the stairs and down the hall to the dimly lit room.

Slowly opening the door, Lina glanced in and widened her eyes in amazement. Windows covered the entire right end of the room, book shelves covering the wall next to the door. Lina shut the door behind her and walked along the shelves, running her fingertips along the spines of the books. They were what she would consider classics, but that would make sense because she was in 1943.

She pulled out Romeo & Juliet, whoever this room belonged to had a good taste in books. Tucking the book underneath her arm so she could read it later when she went outside. She turned around and stopped.

"Woah," she muttered and stared at the table in front of her. Metal tools and gadgets adorned the whole other half of the room, a large metal table lay in the middle with strange toys on it... toys?

There were baby head and doll body parts and sharp objects attached to them, it was seriously freaky. "Someone's into kinky shit." She murmured under her breath and reached out to touch one of the dolls heads.

A hand reached out and grabbed hers before she could touch anything and yanked it back causing Lina to slam into the bookshelf behind her.

"I'm not sure I would call this the kinky shit I'm into." A familiar Scottish voice replied to her causing her jaw to drop. This was Enoch's room? Of course she would get caught sneaking around his stuff, just her luck.

Lina composed herself and gulped. "I'm sorry Enoch I shouldn't have been-"

  "No you shouldn't've."

"I'm sorry, I couldn't sleep and I wanted to..." Lina stopped to think. She didn't really have an explanation for why she was snooping in his room. "I don't know."

"You don't know?" He questioned smirking at her. "Were Emma and Olive not good enough hostesses? Olive is quite the cuddler, I would've thought-"

Lina put her hand up to stop his rambling. "I don't want to hear about your late night cuddling sessions." She didn't want to know for a few reasons she wouldn't admit. "They were perfect to me. I just felt like something was off, so I couldn't sleep. That's all."

Enoch raised his eyebrows, he knew there must be something more to that. "Well since you're here..." he sat in a chair behind his table, across from Lina. "Wanna see something fun?" His face void of any emotion, not helping Lina understand.

  She coughed. "Fun?"

He pointed to the seat next to him and she hesitatingly walked around the table to sit next to him, minding his space bubble. Lina watched as he skillfully started putting metal pieces together to create a baby spider thing. It had a doll head, but metal legs sprouted out of it with knives and scissors. It looked like one of those creepy toys she saw on Toy Story years ago.

  "Enoch, what're you doing?"

He didn't answer, and it wasn't until it was too late that Lina smelt the stench of blood. Enoch pulled out a jar filled with small hearts, beating hearts. He unscrewed it and reached his hand in to pull one out, dangling it in front of Lina's face.

  "Wanna taste?"

"I think I'm going to puke." Lina muttered and stood up, ready to run far away from Enoch. He was seriously disturbed. Mentally disturbed.

"No you're not," he commanded and pulled her arm (with his unoccupied hand) to lead her back to her seat next to him. "You're going to watch me."

Lina obeyed, choosing to watch his face rather than seeing what he was doing with his hands and the toys. His bottom lip was captured by his teeth as his fingers worked. He was focused on what he was doing, and Lina found herself staring, he was beautiful. Cut it out, he's a sociopath.

"Why are you staring at me?" He muttered to her, but not glancing in her direction.

  Lina coughed. "Sorry."

She turned to see Enoch stuff a heart into one of the toys making her grimace. "Come on Enoch, that's just cruel."

Enoch snorted. "So you think I'm a freak?"

She furrowed her eyebrows. "I never said that-"

"But you've been thinking it." He smirked as if he enjoyed it. "I'm glad you think I'm crazy." He then leaned in to whisper into one of the toys ears. Lina watched in amazement as the toy was brought to life? It started to move, moving its several legs as if it was stretching after a long sleep.

The now alive baby spider seemed to be listening to Enoch's words and abruptly turned its head to Lina. Her body froze as she watched the baby advance on her.

"Get. Out." The baby told Lina in a screechy high voice. She didn't wait another second. Sprinting out of the door, she didn't stay long enough to see the curious gaze on Enoch face as he watched her descend the hallway.

  So that was his peculiarity.
