I sat down on the wooden chair pulling out a journal. I dipped my pen in ink and closed my eyes taking in a deep breath. I then hesitantly placed the pen on the first page; from then the words just painted across the paper.
It's started off with
The year was 1833, tension was rising with Mexico; and I was 14 when I met him for the first time
~
I  smiled at my older sister as we walked down the town street.
"You know I think I can see that baby bump."
I said poking her stomach. She smacked my hand and I laughed.
"Look at this dress. You think mama would like it?"
I asked looking in the store window.
"Let's go check it out."
We opened the store door and looked at the dress.
"Maybe. I think her and daddy would beat us to death if we spent this price."
I looked at the dress price and giggled.
"Hell we'd spend everything for this."
She laughed and nodded,
"StoreKeep!"
Leslie shouted, he walked from the back room and to us.
"Yes ma'am?"
"You might want to get this dress to another town. No one has that money here."
He chuckled and me and her laughed.
We walked over to the grocery section. I opened the basket and Leslie stocked it with what food we needed. After that we walked to the pay bar.
"Any candy for Alex?"
Alex was her first kid, he was about 2 turning 3 soon.
She sighed and nodded,
"$1.05"
He said, she took money from the wallet. The  bell rang signaling someone had entered the store.
"I'll be right with you sir."
"No rush."
The man politely said, I turned around and looked at him. He had black hair, and beautiful brown eyes, his stubble brought out his jaw line; and his body, it was skinny yet muscular. He was definitely a cowboy, and my kind of cowboy at that. My heart skipped and my cheeks heated.
He smiled and walked over. I quickly looked down but I couldn't look away for long. He towered at 6 foot.
"Howdy ma'am."
"H-howdy."
I did a slight curtsy and he smiled again.
"I'm James Williams."
"Josephine Hegman."
He kissed my hand and I blushed deeper.
"You are a very fine lady."
"T-thank you. Your not bad yourself."
She smiled bigger this time showing his teeth. A real smile.
"Do you live in town?"
"Just a mile outside of it."
"Is it nice? I'm thinking about moving here."
"Oh please do."
I thought out loud, my eves widened and I cupped my mouth.
He chuckled and looked back to me.
"Well it good to know I'm wanted here."
He smirked,
"I-uhm..."
"Don't worry miss.Hegman. It's nice to be wanted."
"May I speak boldly for a moment?"
"Of course."
"I can't see what you mean. There must be a nice woman who wants you. If one doesn't then they clearly don't have eyes or a good taste in men."
"Well I don't have a gal waitin' for me."
"I can't believe that."
He chuckled,
"Well it's true."
"Josephine. Ma and pa want us home. But this fine man should visit some time."
Leslie flirted,
I blushed a crimson red and I started pushing her towards the door.
"Let's go!"
She was laughing and opened the door.
"He's a ho-"
"Out!"
I pushed her out the door. I turned back and James was chuckling.
"I'm sorry. Bye!"
And I closed the door.
~
I giggled remembering that. I glanced back to the Journal smiling.
I looked at the oil lamp turning it up a little higher for more light. I dipped my pen again and started writing.
~
"What's his name?"
"No."
"Oh come on!"
She closed the door behind her.
"Come on Josey!"
"No!"
"What are you too yellin about"
"Nothing."
"Josey found a boy!"
Me and Leslie spoke at the same time.
Ma ooood and dad chuckled.
"So who's the young man?"
Mikey asked, lacing his arm around Leslies shoulder.
"We just talked. I was being neighborly."
I said blushing,
"Mhm. 'I'm thinking about moving here' 'oh please do' "
She mimicked, I grabbed a rag and hit her with it.
"Leslie you where the exact same way."
"True. I was. But I got this handsome hunk."
She said patting Mikeys chest.
"So what was he like?"
Ma asked stirring the stew. She had just brought it in form the kitchen house.
"Well he was almost as tall as daddy. He had black hair and a stubble. His jawline was sharp and he had brown eyes. And his voice... it was like honey."
Daddy chuckled and lit his cigar.
"Yep shes head over heels already."
"Daddy!"
I smacked his shoulder,
"Well it's true."
He straightedged up the paper and I huffed crossing my arms.
I heard a horse just outside the window and I checked.
It was him...
