I made my way to the kitchen. right outside Ma and pa's house. It been about twelve more weeks putting me at around six months. It's been getting harder to get around.
"Hey beautiful."
James said,
"I'm not beautiful."
"You are. Do you dare not believe my words?"
"Sometimes no."
"Oh come on. Your my beautiful, radiant, sexy wife."
I scoffed at sexy.
"What? Don't believe me?"
"James. I look like a whale."
"A beautiful whale."
I heard him mutter,
"What?!"
"I said beautiful while carrying my baby"
"Mhm."
I glared at him,
"I said While!"
"I don't like you."
I said,
"What do you not believe when I say your beautiful, or sexy?"
"No I don't!"
I shouted,
"Why not?"
He asked in a soft tone,
"Because look at me!"
"I am."
"Then you and me must be looking at different People!"
"Do you remember what I said about two years ago." "You told me a lot of thing from then to now."
I said wiping under my eyes. I crossed my arms taking in a shaky breath.
"Your a pice of art. But the painting can't see its own beauty because it's on the inside"
Him saying that again as the same effect on me when it did two years ago."
I looked away from him trying to blink the tears away.
He stepped closer to me slowly.
"I don't know how you can still think that since my body has gone through changes."
I muttered,
"You are the mother of my child. You have never been more beautiful than you are now. You are so sexy. And have I mentioned I loved these curves? Mmm."
His hand trailed down my side.
"Sooo I'm not beautiful when I'm not pregnant-"
He shut me up by slamming his lips on mine.
After a few long moments he pulled away.
"Just take the damn compliment."
He whispered, I giggled and kissed him again.
His hand held mine and placed the other on my waist.
"What are you doing?"
"Dancing."
We started swaying and he kissed my cheek.
His thumb gently stroked my stomach.
He kissed my nose and I giggled; then kissed his.
"Who knew we'd be here in two years."
"Well two is our favorite number."
"You didn't know that yet?"
"Nah I did."
I scrunched my nose up and he kissed it again.
"I love when you do that."
He said.
~
The next morning after breakfast I was tending to the garden when I heard horse beats. I stood up and wiped my hands on my apron when an unknown man road up.
"Howdy."
I said, I walked towards him and put my hands on my waist.
"Howdy ma'am. Are you out here alone?"
"No sir. My husband and father are in the fields just behind us. Would you like to come in for some buttermilk or coffee."
"That would be appreciated."
I placed a hand on the horses nose while the man got off. I lead him to the house and he tied up the horse.
I made my way up the steps and held the door; he took off his hat as he entered.
"Please take a seat."
I said, he pulled out a chair and did so.
"Coffee or buttermilk."
"Coffee please."
I poured him a cup and sat it down.
"Your Mrs.Williams. Correct?"
"Yes sir."
"Im Almaron Dickinson. I'm here to talk with your husband."
"Is he in any kind of trouble?"
"No ma'am. But Texas needs him."
~
Some parts of me wishes I'd never let him in the house, or even let him know my name or let him see my husband. I could hate him but I know it wasn't his fault. But Any time I thought of his name my stomach curled.
~
"Of course. Let me go get him"
I walked out of the house and to the fence.
"James!"
I called, he looked over and I waved him down.
He road towards me and stopped right behind the fence. I started petting Pennys nose as we stood there.
"Theres a man waiting for you. He said his name was Almaron Dickinson."
He got off and cocked his rifle.
"Stay here."
He started walking towed the house.
