I woke up abruptly in the night to perform my weekly ritual. Who knows what mum would say. You may know that mum actually had some evil inside her once- and she passed it onto me.
Mitch had said it was our secret. I climbed out the window and down the thick tree to my motorbike. Hey, i'm a bit of a tomboy! I rode straight to the castle on the hill, where the remaining vampires lived, poor Mitch and his friends were mostly killed off by the werewolves.
I liked to come every friday. This was when the evil overtook my soft heart. That part was weaker, Mitch said.
I pulled up to the familiar gravel drive and said 'Lift the gate! Its me Mitchy'
Mitch was also my grandfather. He really was kind to me. I will greatly in debt to him. The gate lifted and something began to tug at my heart, filling me with strength. By the time I reached Mitch, I was about to change.
I slumped over, clutching at my abdomen, and shortly later, pulled up again.
'Hello Mitch. Its a pleasure to see you again' I smirked, pecking him on the cheek shortly afterwards. 'You wouldn't have a task for me would you?' I hardly knew what I was saying! A task? What tasks?
'Ahhh. I thought you'd never ask.' Mitch said smiling.
'Master, we have a problem.' A man my age walked out of the front doors.
'Not now Maximus. Can't you see i'm busy?' Mitch said angrily to Max.
'Oooh. Please introduce us Mitch.' I said.
'Fine' He huffed. Then he pulled up, grinning like a cheshire cat. 'Actually, he knew your mother.'
My body stiffened and my evil side said 'You knew my failure of a mother?' To Max.
'Erm yes.' He said, growling. 'Has your mother told you of Quinn? Well, Quinn was like an older brother to me, and he used to tell me I'd make an excellent vampire one day. Then, your mother killed him in cold blood. She ran off and didn't regret the thing once. A few weeks later, her beloved pack killed most of my family.' Max said sadly.
This last speech had even my good side feeling overwhelming pity for him. 'Well, i'm very sorry to here that. I'll have you know I despise my mother. It was great to meet you Max.' I embraced him and suddenly got a strange feeling. Right from my toes to the top of my head, a warm spark spread and I pulled away, wide eyed at my newfound mate. Werewolves and vampires weren't meant to mate were they? Mitch would never allow it. He was such an overprotective grandfather. I mentally told Max not to mention it in front of Mitch and luckily he didn't. He brushed past me and dropped a slip of paper discretely into my hand. I turned back to Mitch.
'So, whats the task?'
