I woke up back in my bed. As usual, the vampires had put me back here after taking my blood. I stretched like a cat, making my way downstairs. Mum smiled at me. We were both early wakers and a bowl of cereal waited for me with a glass of orange juice. I just had to ask mum.

'Hey, what did you say the darkness felt like?' I pried.

' Why are you asking?' Mum said, on guard.

'Well, doesn't matter' I said quickly. She sighed. We ate in silence after that but as I was about to get up, I remembered something.

'Hey, mum, is it possible for vampires to mate with werewolves?' I asked curiously.

'Well... I guess so. Look Sapphire, I just don't get why you keep asking me these darn questions! I thought we agreed to keep these subjects away!' Cassie exclaimed.

'But mum-' I tried

'Oh my gosh you poor, poor thing!' Mum said, suddenly embracing me,'You caught the darkness off me didn't you?' I began to nod,'And your mate, is he a vampire?' This time I stayed silent. 'Well, get into the car, young lady, we're taking a trip to the vampires!' Cassie said, attempting to lighten her voice.

All I could think was one short ironic phrase: 'Curiosity killed the cat.'
