"Here you go, ma'am." The waiter said to you as she placed two strawberry-filled chocolate cakes in front of you. You thanked her, not making any effort to look in her direction, instead you found more interest in your phone than anything else.

You were alone in a small café, sitting in a booth at the back of the shop where not many people could see you. Your secluded area was peaceful apart from the commotion at the front. It was a decent place to think due to not many customers coming to buy and you arrived before rush hour.

You picked up on the smell of fresh coffee and sweets, the aroma clouding your senses. Peaceful it was, but you couldn't say the same for the war that raged in your head. It was a nightmare as you waited for the call. Every second that passed felt minuscule.

This is pointless, you groaned internally, leaning your head back in the booth and wiping the sweat from your forehead. Sighing, you played with your fork for a bit, stabbing it into one of the strawberries on top and smudging it with the wiped cream beside it.

Instead of waiting for a call that has yet to come, you decided to move your focus elsewhere as you took nibbles off your cake.

"Can I have one piece of cake? A coffee? Even just a cookie will do-"

"No sir, I can't do that. You must pay or leave."

Taking another bite of your cake, you overheard the conversation at the front of the café. A guy, maybe seventeen, a few booths ahead of you, was bargaining for something to eat. The waiter seemed annoyed, crossed arms, with half-lidded eyes as she tapped her foot. Their dispute ended with the teen asking for some water and the waiter making him promise to leave after he received his drink.

So caught up in watching them, you jumped at the sound of your phone ringing. Not giving it a second chance to ring, you quickly opened it, not bothering to look at who was calling.

"Yes, Hello?" You said a bit hurriedly, leaning forward in your seat and lowering your head as you realized you said that a bit loud.

"Yo, Ryumi, where ya at?"

It was Masako.

Your excitement died as you slouched back down again, tired eyes making their way back up.

"I'm in hell right now, where else would I be?" You replied, your monotonous remark causing the female on the other end to roll her eyes.

"Right, Right." Masako drawled, leaning against the wall in her current location. "Tell my ex I said hi and that I hope he's doing horrible."
