The clinical wave of air washed over you as you entered the hospital. The sanitized smell filling your lungs as you made your way further into the hallways. It was the smell that blocked out the scent of blood and death, but as much as they tried to conceal it, the despair was much more apparent in the atmosphere as you passed many melancholic faces and mourning families.

You hated it.

L noticed your change of pace as he glanced over to see the slight tense expression you displayed. You hugged yourself, keeping your eyes close to the floor not wanting to be reminded of the true image of the place you walked into. He slowed his pace as well, meeting yours to get a better look at you.

"I take it you're not very fond of hospitals?" L asked. Your eyes glanced over to him and to your surprise, his face showed a bit of concern, something you have rarely seen from the greatest detective. You blinked away, not wanting to be trapped by his analyzing eyes, feeling as though they could see right through you in the state you were in. You knew that action alone gave him his answer, but you still gave a low hum of approval.

Taking the hint that you didn't want to discuss the matter, he didn't press you any further, instead, he continued walking by your side silently. Maybe you were overthinking the fact that he stayed by your side instead of walking ahead, but the small act comforted you so you decided not to question it.

Soon, you found yourself walking into a small room of the hospital, catching sight of the disheveled man resting in the hospital bed. You, along with Light and L, took a seat next to his bedside. Light sat the closest to his father as you sat in the middle. L sat in his usual position, placing his hands on his knees and turning his attention to the man he came to see.

An older woman was also in the room, about to leave. You recognized her as Light's mother. She bid farewell to her husband and son and quickly left the room.

You observed Mr. Yagami, seeing the tired look on his face and his sickly pale skin. Well, I called it. You thought to yourself, remembering how stressed Mr. Yagami has been ever since you joined the investigation.
