Chapter 10: School

            That night was spent in each other’s arms in our new home. The next day we went to the big house to tell everyone the big news. I did not know who all knew that Ian would be asking me but I assumed they did not know when he would ask. We were almost to the main house and I turned to Ian. “Let’s race the rest of the way.” I suggested with a smile. He smirked at me and took off through the trees. “No fair I exclaimed,” and raced after him. I was gaining on him. I could see his figure and I had to pause a moment to admire how beautiful he looked. Then I realized that he was winning I could not let him, I would never hear the end of it. We came to the river and I took a chance and jumped early. We landed at the same time and I rushed to the back door. Alice saw us coming and opened the door so we would not go crashing into it. I raced through and jumped onto an unsuspecting, Emmett’s back.

            “Hey!” he yelled. “What is going on?” he said trying to shake me off, I just tightened my grip.

            “We were racing and I won.” I said proudly.

            I heard him chuckle, “Nice squirt.” He said. “Now, I would rather not carry you around all day.” I heard the smile in his voice as he referred to a few days ago when I was getting him back for playing a prank on me. I made him carry me around for the whole day. He finally got annoyed and said he was sorry.

            I laughed and climbed down. Then I cleared my throat. “Everyone, I have an announcement to make.” They were all in the front room so I thought now would be a good time to tell the good news. Everyone looked at me expectantly and I suddenly got shy. Ian took my hand and squeezed it gently. I gulped then spoke, “Ian and I are getting married.” I said with a small smile.

            Alice squealed and jumped up to hug me. “I knew it!” she said excited.

            Bella, Rose, and Esme’s reactions were calmer. “Congratulations sweetie, I am so happy for you.” Esme said. Emmett grabbed me in a bear hug and made an inappropriate comment. Jasper came and hugged me as well wishing his own congratulations. Jake smiled and gave me a hug and shook Ian’s hand.

            Edward gave us each a hug and told Ian to take good care of me. Renesmee’s reaction was the funniest. “Well it’s about time. It’s not like you two don’t already act married.” We all laughed at that.

            I turned to look at Carlisle. There was a really important question I needed to ask him and I did not know how he would answer. “Carlisle, would you walk me down the aisle? You aren’t me real father but I still think of you as my dad.”

            He smiled, “I would be happy to. And I am glad you think of me that way. You are as much a daughter to me as Rose, Alice, or Bella.”
