A couple of months passed as (Y/N) stood on the balcony to her room. She hasn't been talking to the Martell brothers for a while; they are both big diva's and she really didn't need that stress, especially now. Her cheeks were stained with tears, eyes red puffy and sore. A letter was in her hand, waving slightly in the warm wind.
Dearest (Y/N), my sweet one,
I regret to inform you that my family stormed Kingslanding. We won. Your father was murdered, I know he meant a lot to you, but in the midst of battle, he died. He fought until the end to save his country, but the Lannister vastly outnumbered him. He died a hero. Targaryen's has now been contracted, kill on sight. Writing you this very letter could have me executed, but you needed to know. And not through gossip of the sand snakes, but from, what I still hope I am, a close friend.
I am so very sorry, my princess, I send my condolences. I hope you are being looked after well in Sunspear. I hope you roll around in the sun kissed sand on their lands.
Sincerely, Ser Jaime Lannister.
Tears resurfaced as you read the letter again. Your father; the last person who loved you as been murdered. Kingslanding has fallen to the clutches of the Lannister's. You could imagine Tywin's smug face, Cersei's large grin and Jaime's prideful expression. Yet, he still sent you the letter. Perhaps he still cares. A knock startled you and you nearly dropped the letter from your precious lion. You quickly wipe your eyes with the back of your hand before hiking up your blue gown and gliding towards the door. You stopped and folded the letter and hid it beneath your bed. You smoothed your dress and checked yourself in the mirror before opening the door with the fake smile you've practice to have while living in Dorne. It just had to be Oberyn. Of course.
"You've been avoiding me," He states dully.
"I've been avoiding your ongoing fight with your brother," You corrected, opening the door and motioning for him to enter. You waltzed over to your table where your wine was place. "A drink?" He didn't answer as he studied you. "Oberyn?"
"What's wrong?" He asks, leaning against the now closed door of your chambers. You let out a little laugh.
"Nothing," You say, shaking your head. "A drink?" You ask again, pouring yourself a glass.
"I'm quite alright, thank you," You quirked a brow.
"Lord Oberyn Martell refusing a drink from a lady? Imposter, you must be," You say with a over the top gasp. He chuckles slightly, still leaning against your door. You took a sip before turning your gaze back to the balcony.
"The sights of Dorne is quite impressive, don't you think?" He asks with slight amusement. You hum a response, walking out, the warm breeze washing over you. "Better than Kingslanding I'd say," Your breath catches in your throat at the name of your kingdom. "Instead of houses, fires, knights, rotting corpse we have flora and fauna from around the world," You jump slightly when you feel his hands rest on your hips. "No hierarchy, even is treated the same. No kings or queens, just simple people living their life's," His hands trail higher, his mouth hoovering over your neck.
"What do you want, Oberyn?" You asked, turning around to be met with his toned, exposed chest.
"I want you," He admits, one of his hands leaving your hips and intertwining his fingers with yours.
"Funny how something you want is unavailable,"
"You're no longer promised to my brother," He says, his golden brown eyes boring into your (E/C) orbs.
"But I cannot marry his brother, that betrayal could have me executed, you don't want me to die, do you?"
"Of course not, my little dragon," He removes his other hand from your hip and strokes your cheek with one of his fingers. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect you," Even though it pained you to say it, you knew you had to. You know the Red Viper would worm his way into your heart; he's already begun. But you can't allow him to have it. Your heart was promised to Doran and because of your silly outburst and hormones, you screwed it up. You can't mess up anymore. There's no father to run back to. No sister or brother. It's you in Dorne forever. If you allow yourself to your desires, to Oberyn, no one knows what Doran would do. And even though Oberyn says he'll protect you, he can't do it forever.
"If you want to protect...then you can start by leaving me alone," You look down, closing your eyes so you don't have to see his broken face. He doesn't say anything but you can feel him walk away. The warmth on your hand leaving as well. Your heart hammers in your chest as tears threaten to fall. From heartache. From losing your father and pushing someone you liked away.
"If that's what you wish," He says before you hear the door open and then close.
~4 weeks later~
Unfortunately, Oberyn actually listened to you. You never saw him. You and Sphax were walking though the Water Gardens, when you sighed sadly, sitting down on a marble bench. He stops too, the sun reflecting off his broad chest.
"You miss Prince Oberyn, don't you?" He stated rather than question. Your gaze falls on pretty blue flowers as you stand and walk over to them.
"I do...but I made the choice. I asked him to stay away,"
"And do you think it's the right choice?" You sigh, reaching out to the flowers.
"I don't know anymore," You pick the flower, the petals glowing in your hands. You furrow your brows and blink. When you open your eyes, you're no longer in Dorne. Rather, you were in a middle of a blizzard. You shiver, rubbing your arms. You look around to see someone emerge from the harsh storm. Icy blue eyes stare directly into yours. Your body freezes up as it begins to stride towards you. He stares at you before stopping inches away from you.
"How?" His voice is deep and croaky. Yet what comes out of his mouth is foreign, the translation echoes in your mind. He circles you like a predator stalking a prey. This...creature has ice as skin dressed in black armour that snow has stuck to. "This...it's impossible," The voice echoes.
"Who are you?" He circles back around you so he's standing infront of you.
"I am winter," He reaches forward and grabs you. You stumble back but instead of falling on soft snow, its hard warm, flooring.
"(Y/N)?" You look up to see Sphax standing above you, helping you stand back up. "Are you alright? You stopped talking and froze," You don't say anything, your heart pounding in your chest. You look down at your wrist where the monster grab you and you almost screamed. That were red marks across it. It was real. All of it. Winter is real.
"Winter is coming,"
