Shortly after finishing her dinner, Arabella gets a call on her cellphone, so she quickly excuses herself and heads into the nearest bathroom to take the call.
"Arabella?" Said a familiar voice on the opposite end of the line.
"Sorry mom, I can't talk right now. I'm not home, at the moment." Arabella spoke in a hushed tone.
"Okay, let's talk when you get home then"
Arabella bids her mother farewell before ending the call. She then places her cellphone back into her pocket and exits the bathroom.
As she steps into the hallway, she's immediately stopped by Chloe, who's standing outside of the bathroom with her arms crossed and one leg propped up against the wall.
"Can I help you?" Arabella asked, staring at the blonde.
Chloe narrows her eyes at her, while placing a hand on her hips "Stay away from my boyfriend!"
Arabella knits her eyebrows together in confusion. Why was Chloe asking her to stay away from her boyfriend? As far as she knows, she's never even met the guy before, or knew about his existence for that matter.
"I don't even know who you're boyfriend is." Arabella says then.
Chloe let's out a humorless laugh "Drop the innocent act, It's obvious you're trying to seduce Spencer and take him away from me." she says, folding her arms over her chest.
Spencer was Chloe's boyfriend? Arabella questions to herself. Why didn't she know about this? Maybe that's why their families were having dinner together. It all made sense now.
But there was still one question that she couldn't find an answer for. If Spencer was Chloe's boyfriend, then why did he invite her to stay for dinner? Was all of this, just a plot to make Chloe jealous or something?
Arabella was most confused.
Chloe snaps her fingers in front of Arabella's face, breaking her out from her thoughts, "Hello, I'm talking to you, you know" she says with a scowl.
"Look Chloe," Arabella starts "Spencer and I are just friends, nobody's taking him away from you."
Chloe gives her an incredulous look "Yeah, right. You expect me to believe that." She sneers before pointing a finger at her "Just stay away from Spencer!"
Arabella raised an eyebrow in response, "And what if I don't want to do that?" She didn't care if Chloe really was Spencer's girlfriend. She wasn't about to take orders from some spoiled brat.
Chloe takes a step forward, so that they were now an inch apart "I'll make you regret ever joining our school."
"Are you threatening me?" Arabella remarked, taken aback.
"I wouldn't call it threatening," Chloe purses her lips in thought, while looking at her dead in the eyes "Just do as I say and we won't have any problems."
"What's going on here?" Spencer's voice echoed through the hallway, making Chloe immediately back away from her.
Chloe looks at him, her face suddenly displaying an innocent look "Nothing, we were just having a friendly chat."
There was something seriously wrong with this girl. Arabella thinks. Since when was threatening someone, labeled as having a friendly chat.
