"On your marks,...get set,..go," a voice said which sent all the swimmers diving into the water.
Spencer effortlessly took the lead ahead of his teammates, as he free-styled back and forth across the pool before coming back to the starting point.
"Damm, second place again, I thought I had you this time, man," A familiar voice says from the second lane of the pool.
Spencer turns around to acknowledge the owner of the voice. It's his friend and teammate Lucas.
"Better luck, next time bro" Spencer smirked at the brunette as their coach approached them.
"Great job Spencer, you just broke your record from last week. Your current time is now, 52.22 seconds." Coach Sanders said happily giving Spencer a congratulatory pat on the shoulder as he made his way out of the water.
"Keep this up and you're sure to win first place at the upcoming regionals this year" the man continues before diverting his attention to Lucas.
"Lucas, you've also improved a lot. You're current time is 53.50 seconds, so for that I must say, well done." Coach Sanders gives a handshake to the brunette.
"Thank you, Coach" The boy replied with a smile.
The man nods, returning his attention to the other swimmers.
"And as for the rest of you, have you all been slacking off instead of training," The man questions with a disapproving tone.
"Danny, how is it possible that you got worse." the man raises his voice at the poor boy who only lowers his head in shame.
A few of the other swimmers on the team, burst out into a fit of laughter at this but instantly shut their mouths when Coach Sanders turns in their direction with a menacing glare,
"You lot, ought not to be laughing, you haven't been getting any better either."
"If you guys are not serious about being on this team, then you're more than welcome to leave. Have I made myself clear?" Coach Sanders added, his voice coming out firm and gruff, showing that he wasn't kidding around.
This is followed by a chorus of 'yes sir's'. After which the man turns around to leave the gym.
There's a moment of silence after that before Spencer decided to break the silence.
"I've never seen coach so angry, before."
"Yeah, that was so intense, I almost wet my shorts and he wasn't even angry with me" Lucas responded with a nod as they walked out of the gym and into the Locker-room.
"TMI bro," Spencer shakes his head at his friend while scrunching his nose up in disgust. "Like I seriously did not need to know that"
"Hey, if we didn't have honesty in this friendship, then why would we be friends" Lucas attempted to reason with the blonde.
Spencer let out a laugh in response, "Okay, you're right about that."
Lucas gave him a wink "I always am. Oh, before I forget, I'm having a party tonight, you in?"
"Can't, my parents are back in town, so that's an obvious no"
"Oh that sucks, well there's always next time"
Spencer hums in response but doesn't respond. He decides to send a quick text to Madison to see if they were still on for the day
To: Madison
Hey Princess,
Are we still on for today? From: Madison
Yeah,
Where should we meet up?To: Madison
The CourtyardFrom: Madison
Okay,
See you later then:)Spencer smiles after reading the text message. This doesn't go unnoticed by Lucas, who's slightly shocked as he notices the huge smile on Spencer's face.
"So who's the lucky girl, that has you grinning like an idiot?" Lucas asks, wiggling his eyebrows in a suggestive manner.
Spencer immediately wipes the smile of his face and changes it to a serious look
"I was not. Maybe you need to get your eyes checked"
"You totally were. Don't try to deny it" Lucas retorts with a smirk.
"Would you believe me if I said it was Chloe"
"Do I look like an idiot? Everyone knows you don't like Chloe"
"Fine. It's Madison" Spencer finally tells him.
"The new girl? How did you manage to get her number. I heard from Nate that her brothers don't let anyone come near her"
"She's my partner in Sci, Med and Tech.
"You must have saved a country in your past life or something. Because somehow you always manage to get all the ladies without even trying."
Spencer rolls his eyes at his friend's comment. It wasn't his fault that all the girls in school were head over heels for him. But none of that mattered to him, because there was only one girl he's set his sights on. And that girl, was none other than—Madison Hall.
