Chapter 14

A long time ago, mankind was touched by the planet's anger, and the world was engulfed in flames. It was called the Day of the Cataclysm. The flames burned ferociously with intensity threatening to incinerate the places mankind lived, the languages they spoke, and the culture they had built up.

[Y/n] continued to work side with Maki, Arthur, and Hinawa while Shinra and Tamaki were on cleaning duty. "Maybe you aren't my beloved steed Silver, the partner I've been looking for, but even now, you're still my partner. Isn't that right, Sil-burro?" Arthur said to the donkey head that hung on the wall.

"Please stop hanging weird stuff on the walls." Maki said.

"This is my Pegasus, who via Vulcan descended to earth and made possible my miraculous recovery." Arthur said.

"But...it a donkey, Arthur-san." [Y/n] said and went back to work. "Are you okay with this, Lieutenant?" Maki asked and noticed Hinawa's weird hat. "Arthur, get back to work." Hinawa simply said.

"That hat can from Vulcan, didn't it, sir?" Maki asked.

"I saw it here this morning."

"Don't hose horns get in the way?"

"They don't impede my work."

"Lieutenant, you're much too cavalier about fashion. Would you like me to buy you something sometime?" Maki said.

"I would trust you to buy anything that didn't come out of a fairy tale."

"Huh? It would be better than those horns, sir."

"Come on, enough idle chatter." Hinawa said. The horns on the hat kept knocking papers down and figurines over. Maki soon took the hat and placed it on top of the donkey's head. Arthur and [Y/n] looked at the donkey weirdly. "What is happening around here?" [Y/n] muttered.

"Eh? Back to Asakusa?" [Y/n] questioned.

"Yeah, for some training with Captain Shinmon." Shinra said, and [Y/n] hummed. "I could use more training." She said while nodding in agreement. "Let me get changed first."

"[Y-Y/n]." Shinra said as his face reddened and a smile appeared on his face, "A-About what I said the other day...I didn't mean for it to c-come out like that. It's just...when I saw you get hurt again..."

[Y/n]'s face reddened as well. "N-No, it's okay." She said while waving her hands in front of her, "D-Do you mind waiting a bit...s-so we can walk to the Matchbox together. Could you w-wait outside of the locker room...for me?" She looked to the side. They were both tomato red at this point.

"S-Sure." Shinra said, and [Y/n] walked to the locker room. She closed the door and covered her face. "I love you so much." His voice was playing in her head over and over. 'He l-loves me?!' She thought. She liked him for a while now, but she never expected him to like her back. There were other girls like Hibana or Tamaki that seemed into him. 

[Y/n] got dressed into her fireproof, skin-light, black material that covered her body and connected to her pants. The material came down [Y/n]'s arms and hooked around her middle fingers to hold them in place. The material covered up [Y/n]'s collarbone and shoulder, and it opened up in the back exposing [Y/n]'s back. The material connected at the small of her back. To give a bit of a sexy vibe, the material exposed a bit of [Y/n]'s cleavage in the front. She put on her black turnout pants with luminous blue strips around them, and she wore black combat boots. [Y/n] put on her turnout coat, leaving the coat open.

[Y/n] was nervous to open the door and see Shinra. But, she opened the door anyway. Shinra was still there, leaning against the wall, waiting for [Y/n] to come back. His nervous smile came back. [Y/n] found it cute. "Shall we?" [Y/n] questioned, and Shinra nodded. They walked to the Matchbox together.
