Monday afternoon
It's pretty clear that since last Saturday's incident that Miss Kwan is more respected by Dennis and his friends. But by other people, it was a different story since they don't know on who she is as a person.
However Miss Kwan was pretty sure that in spite of her improving friendship with four of her pupils, there are still some hefty challenges considering that she needs her own personal down time too, which adds more logical sense considering the fact that she will always return home exhausted after work.
And personally for her, she might have got used to it from what her experience during her younger years that taught her anything about life. However what bothered her is that recently she felt a bit less interested in Ms. Creecher always telling her what to do in her work routine and the fact that it almost drove her mad. And it probably DID drove her mad but not in a way where she felt like losing her head.
"Good afternoon class."
"Good afternoon Miss Kwan!"
And that's just another start of her teaching routine. With the same pupils making noises and running around the class occasionally again. And there's really also them throwing paper planes and some of them playing mobile games or even texting on their smartphones.
But that's just the normal behaviour that all teachers will always expect from their pupils. Whether they tolerate it or not. And what Miss Kwan is about to provide for the students today is for them make a school project about the history of the Malacca Sultanate. The students groaned in response as they dreaded the thought of history school projects, so she decides to let them act out some of the interesting scenarios based on the Malacca sultanate instead... and that is after she gave them each comic book adaptations of the Hang Tuah legends that were very famous back in her country, followed by giving them scripts that she wrote by herself that are needed for those acting performances.
"Oh your royal majesty The Sultan, I swear on behalf on you that I shall pledge my loyalty to you." said a pupil as he followed the script while acting out his role as a Malacca Sultanate warrior pledging his loyalty to the Sultan, who's role is played by a blonde girl wearing a traditional Malaccan Sultan's gold and yellow clothes.
And after they acted out the short skit, Miss Kwan was calling out Walter and Bertie's name for them to act out a scenario of a fight between a Portuguese troop soldier and a Malaccan warrior.
But little did they know is that Dennis put itchy powder in Bertie's Malaccan warrior costume minutes before without Miss Kwan even knowing. So it ended a bit disastrously as Walter angrily stormed at Dennis for ruining their part of the performance.
"Miss Kwan, I would like to report the fact, that this unruly riff-raff put itchy powder in Bertie's costume!" shouted Walter to Miss Kwan. "No one gets in Bertie's way but me! ME I TELL YOU!! ME!!!"
"Dennis, we would like to talk about that matter." said Miss Kwan as she continued ignoring Walter shouting "ME!!" continuously in the background.
"Guff bombs, I've been caught!" said Dennis with a shocked expression. "Miss, what is it?"
Miss Kwan was putting on a stern expression as she pointed towards Bertie, who is still scratching himself on the back and eventually his backside as the effects of the itching powder are still there.
"Oh, that." said Dennis as he wore a snarky expression on his face while raising his hands slightly up. "To be fair with you miss, thiiiiisss is not the first time I've ever did that." And that's all while Pieface is nervously asking J.J. whether Dennis will be fine since he's worried on the worst punishment that will be provided to him, which is sending him to the headmaster's office.
And after he shrugged lightly for him being indifferent to the situation he caused in the first place, Miss Kwan started asking him on why he did that.
"Well you see Miss, he did really frame me for doodling the lockers with a white marker pen yesterday. So he really deserves some payback pranking!" said Dennis as he explained why.
Miss Kwan sighed. "Ok fine, I'm not willing to give you detention or a visit to the headmaster's office or anything. But I have to remind you that going too far on what you're doing isn't that right."
"But Miss, I am READY to accept the consequences of my actions. I'm not some jerk who will just- push anyone away for his selfishness, or even straight up be a bully to them! I'm just looking forward to making the best of the worst of my life." said Dennis, slightly hesitant.
"Ok I get it. So what you're saying is that Walter has been picking on you the whole time?" said Miss Kwan.
"Wait, how do you know?"
"Well, it's pretty obvious that he's-"
"Yeah YEAH, I get it. He's been actively picking on me even before his dad became a mayor. So what?!" Dennis replied. "He's always being such a jerk to everybody who would go around to flaunt his status as the mayor's son like the shallow and pretentious guff head he is!"
"Ok, and even I knew how petty he is like signs of him grinning like a smug snob!" Miss Kwan added. "Even he had to crave too much of my attention to the point of driving me mad!"
"Yep, he's a teacher's pet alright..." said Dennis.
KRRRRIIIIIIINNNGGGG!
The school bell suddenly rang and it was time for Miss Kwan to leave the classroom while she tells all of the pupils of class 3C to say "Thank you, teacher" as she prepared to go to the teachers' office.
"Uuuughhh... today's history class session that I taught was a bit... disastrous at best." said Miss Kwan to Miss Mistry, who happens to sit next to her in their cubicle.
"Why was it disastrous exactly?" asked Miss Mistry.
"Well it's not that bad since I'm as forgiving to Dennis' antics as you," Miss Kwan responded. "But I'm pretty worried that, if I told Ms. Creecher on what he did in my history class if she asked or even told me on how's it going, she'll be pretty furious! Imagine the horrifically long speech she'll provide to me as per my responsibility as a teacher!"
"Don't be such a downer Miss Kwan! I know how you felt like like how I realised that in my first teaching job, that teaching those pupils is not as easy as it seems but I did it my own way very carefully as to give them something special that doesn't bore them to sleep," said Miss Mistry while assuring Miss Kwan that, she is not alone on that matter. "Just like what the first issue of Top Teachers of Tomorrow's top article said, don't restrain the pupils, or even their voices!"
"I think you're pretty right about that matter, Maya!" said Miss Kwan to Miss Mistry. "But one question, how did you get that magazine?"
"Well, that's just from the convenience store." answered Miss Mistry, slightly awkwardly.
"So, any blam plans for tomorrow?" asked Miss Mistry.
"Nothing much, just doing my own stuff... liiiikkke babysitting Dennis and-"
"Woah, I didn't knew you were babysitting Dennis and his friends! That's totally blam of you to be there for them," said Miss Mistry with excitement. "Imagine the tons of fun you could have with four of your pupils like skateboarding and other extremely cool stuff!"
"Like pranking." added Miss Kwan.
"Yep, that." said Miss Mistry as she pointed and winked happily at Miss Kwan.
And at that point, there is someone other than Dennis and his friends themselves that knew that Miss Kwan was also babysitting the four of them. And that is also when Miss Kwan felt a subtle mixture of embarrassment and the tingly feeling of being positively praised for being such a good and responsible babysitter for those four little loveable rascals.
