"One firewhiskey please," Pansy said. The bar tender stared. "Say what?" Hermione giggled. "Two Budweiser please," she said. Pansy looked at her as if she were mad. "What did you order for us, and why didn't he understand when I asked him for a firewhiskey?" "We are at a muggle bar, Pansy. Budweiser is a muggle beer," "Ohh...Muggle bar, eh?" Pansy looked around and the bar tender gave them their drinks. The two girls made their way to a table and sat down in an uncomfortable silence. Both took a sip, thinking about how to break the silence. "So what- " They both started at once. The two girls looked at each other and laughed. "You go first," Hermione said. "No no! Please go on," her newly made friend offered. Hermione smiled and then said, "Well, I was just going to ask you how you were doing...Like what you are working as, if you are that is, and just generally, how you are after the war," "Wow, we must really think alike cause I was going to ask you the same thing!" Pansy said. "Really?" "Yeah," "Well go on then!" the brunette said. "Well, I now work at Diana's. It's a- " "Fashion store, yes, I know," Hermione interrupted. "How do you know? You never struck me as someone who would be obsessed with their looks!" "Well, you get to know these things when Ginny Weasley is your best friend," Hermione said, laughing. Then almost immediately her face fell on remembering her ex-best friend. "Um...Hermione? Are...Are you alright?" Pansy asked, concerned. Hermione snapped out of her trance. "Oh! Yes! I'm fine! Sorry about that!" She said, all too quickly. "Are you sure? I'm here if you need me..." Pansy said, unsure about where she stood with the brunette. Sure they made up, but that was just about ten minutes ago. Just before those ten minutes, Hermione Granger hated Pansy Parkinson. Hermione smiled. "Thank you, Pansy. It's just..." she trailed off, hesitating. After all, she had just met the girl ten minutes ago. But she could see that Pansy was genuinely concerned for her, and after all, they had agreed to start over. And Hermione would be lying if she said that she wasn't enjoying the Slytherin girl's company. She took a deep breath. "It's just really hard to talk about it..." Pansy didn't push. She knew the look on the brunette's face. After all, she had been there herself. Hermione was lost, and it was plain to see.

Hermione glanced up at Pansy and saw that she wasn't going to push and she was grateful for that. She knew that she needed to talk to someone about her situation, and seeing that she couldn't talk to any of her old friends, why not talk to Pansy? Couldn't make this any worse, Hermione thought. She mustered up her courage and started. "I guess you would know that I was engaged to Ronald Weasley," Pansy snorted. "Oh I am more than aware, Hermione. Rita Skeeter kept us very much updated to every aspect of your relationship," the dark haired girl. Hermione blushed at that. "I guess she did, didn't she? Yeah so continuing, Ronald and I were engaged," Hermione's voice cracked at that. "Sorry...Yeah so we were engaged and we were supposed to get married in December, when he said that we will have to push the date cause he won't get a holiday. But the thing was that Harry, our best friend was his boss, so I didn't see what the problem was. I guess there were signs, but I was too blind to see them. he started distancing himself from me and we would hardly get any time together. He would stay extremely late at work," Hermione stopped at that. It suddenly hit her. Why that little! He wasn't at work at all! He was with Lavender all the time! Hermione realized. "Um...Hermione?" Pansy asked. Hermione's head snapped up at that and she answered with a forced smile. "Sorry...I just realized something, is all. So yeah as I was saying he would stay extremely late at work and when he came home, he would be too tired to do anything but eat and sleep," she said with disgust. "So...What happened? Did you guys break up?" Pansy asked curiously. "No...We didn't break up, he cheated on me," Hermione said, trying hard to fight back tears. Pansy was shell shocked, trying to wrap her head around this. "He...He cheated on you?" she asked, not believing her ears. Hermione nodded her head and looked away. Pansy didn't say a word. She just asked for the bill and paid. She immediately dragged Hermione out, much to the girl's surprise, and apparated them to her place.
