*At Dinner*

"So Dad, Can I go to Texas this weekend?" "No." "What?! Why?!" "You are not old enough to go. Why do you even want to go to Texas?" "Dad, I'm about to be 14 and I have one Friend! I have only seen him twice in person and its his last football game of the season and I might not have any people skills but I know him better than I know myself and if I go it would make him and me so happy. So I just wanted to know if I was going to leave this house with permission or if I was going to leave and run away. I am leaving." I shoveled the rest of my taco into my mouth and walked away to my room and slammed the door.

I grabbed my phone and ask if I could call JT. "Hello?" "Hey." I said with the tears starting. "What's wrong?" "Can I come visit you this week?" "Of course! But I thought you said your father wouldn't let you come to Texas.?" "He isn't." "You're running away?" "Yes." I said in a whisper. "You can stay as long as you want ok?" "Are your parents ok with having a stranger in their house?" ""Yeah I kind of already sent them a text saying there was an emergency and we are the only people you know." I smiled when he said that. "Thank you." "No problem. Can we face time or do you want to stay on call?" "We can facetime just let me put a shirt on. I was changing when you called."  "ok FT me when you are ready." we hung up and I put on an old faded shirt my mom bought me last time we were in Texas. The song Seamless by Sabrina Carpenter started to play so I went and answered my phone. "Hey" "Hey. Can you help me pack? I don't know how hot it is in Texas." I asked with a small smile. "Sure" I went and got my only suitcase that could carry clothes and essentials and not take up too much room. I got my back pack on the huge bed and went to start getting clothes from my dresser and closet. "Do I need jeans and shorts?" "Yes it gets really hot in the summer but there is also some days that it can get cold." I put three pairs of jeans and two pairs of shorts in my bag. "What about shirts?" "Yes you need shirts" I rolled my eyes. "You know that's not what I meant. I was asking long sleeve or short sleeve." "Short sleeve for sure." He said after laughing a little. I packed a few of my favorite old T-shirts and two long sleeve ones just in case. "Do I need a skirt?" "I don't know so you might want to pack one just in case." I packed my bright pink skirt I sewed a few weeks ago. "Did you make that one?" He asked. "yeah I finished it a few weeks ago. Its the fabric you helped me pick out from a thrift store once." I grabbed my favorite day dress I bought a few days before we moved and put it into my suitcase. "Cool." I put my ear buds in so I could go to the bathroom to get some stuff and have the door shut so I could leave my phone on my bed. "I am going to get stuff from the bathroom but I have earbuds in so I can still hear you." "Ok. Why did you decide to run away?" "Oh, uhh, um m-my father has been on edge and he uh wont let me do anything." I hope he couldn't tell that I was lying. "I know you're lying but if you don't want to tell me then you don't have to." "No its not that I don't want to tell you I just, I just cant yet." I said not wanting to ruin the surprise. I grabbed a medium sized zip pouch and put things like a toothpaste, a tooth brush, a brush, makeup, ect. I went to the bathtub and got my shampoo, face wash, conditioner ,and body wash and put them into smaller containers and threw away the empty bottles.

I put the pouch in the Suit case and went to my laptop. I searched the airlines for the cheapest ticket to Texas. once I found one for the next day at 9 am, I put in my debit card number and bought it. A one way ticket to Texas. I put my laptop in my back pack with the charger, put a few books I had been wanting to read, my diary and some pens, and a few pictures. I wrote a quick note to leave on my desk.

                          Dear Father,

I will miss you and I will come back in a few months most likely but I will be safe. Please do not try to come get me and force me back into that huge lonely house. Get a fish or something. You will be better off without me. I love you father. I will see you soon.

                          Love,

                                 your daughter,

                                                         Jordan
